So it looks like i will have to move to singapore for a few years. I was just down at my local bike dealer here in Northern California, and for $12,000 i can get a new '11 yamaha r6

plenty of slightly used 09's and 10's around the 8 - 10k range. So looking at the taxes and duties and all, i would have to be spending another 10k on duty and taxes before its worth my while buying new in Singapore.

I'm sure my company would help with the red tape and importation of the bike and i would just bring it back with me when i was done. Just curious if anyone has done this, or if its really is worth paying double while in Singapore?? If thats the case, are they easy to sell? i see NONE for sale online hardly, so is that because they always go real quick, or no one advertises because no one buys?

cheers

Sam.

I was in phoenix and self import my BMW F800 back last year....the R6 needs to pass euro emission test,if not then it's another red tape you need to deal with...plus with the rising COE....is the warranty covered by the Yamaha ag

Thanks for the reply,

So in your case after you were all said and done, was it worth bringing in your BMW or should you have just bought one when you got to Sing?

It seems like singapore has a BMW dealer... so whats the sticker on your bike in Sing vs your total outlay to be riding it around out there?

Just trying to see some numbers to figure this out.

Thanks for your help.....do you miss AZ ?

Hmmm... As a local I'll say, fly here, buy here, done with and sell it here. Though I can't advise much on the figures but I'll say that the idea of bring in and send back will cost you another R6 in California... Must u really ride new or could live with a used bike since you are not gonna be here long... used ones could be a good option for you...

It's singapore that you gonna land and remember, anything that produce emission is gonna taxed... painfully heavy... LOL
