Hi All,

I ordered a windscreen online, but due to a manufacturing error it doesn't fit properly. I need to make some small modification to it - just cut out a little piece.

Any idea where I can get this done? I am concerned about quality of workmanship and want a neat job done without damage to the screen. Can anybody recommend a place? Either a bike shop or someone who specialises in acrylic works. Please help :)

Thanks!

Hi there.

@Kitten: Thank you for the mention. I didn't actually do the work, my friend did the cutting; I just sketched the areas that needed to be trimmed.

@crankcase: I would like to help you, but I am quite tied down with work and school. You can try popping by BAN HOCK HIN (http://www.banhockhin.com.sg, 62816520). Speak to SAMY or FREDERICK from the service department and explain your problem. When you speak to them, tell them that you were referred by MR. PETER. They do a lot of custom fibreglass and Lexan work (such as replacement windshields for the Benelli Adiva) and I find their workmanship superb.

Best you explain what it is you need and then pop over for them to give you a quote. If it's not in your budget, I'll see what else I can do to help.

Cheers;

MJ.

Thanks a lot folks, much appreciated! I'll give Ban Hock Chin a call and see what they have to say... my modification is pretty minor, so hopefully it won't be too complicated/expensive. Will keep you updated :)

Hi, update as promised : I went down to Ban Hock Chin this afternoon as I got off work early. They did the work promptly and neatly, and the charges were not TOO bad either. The screen fits well now, the remaining question being whether it's actually any good :p

But thanks a lot for the tip, it really helped get this resolved so quickly! Very much appreciated!!

Call the above shop for a quote, they seem to do a lot of complex fabrication. A little bending shouldn't cost you too much.

Not advisable to DIY as it's hard to get a three dimensional curvature perfect without extensive prior experience.

I'm considering making one more screen to custom design, so I have a few more questions:

- Will Ban Hock Chin have the raw material, or do I have to supply my own?

- If they do have, will they have various types to choose from? I'm considering going for polycarbonate rather than acrylic, do they work with this stuff?

- If you have any ballpark idea on pricing for the entire process (design, materials, fabrication), that would be really helpful.

Thanks a lot!

Since Mj gave me his phantom shield I was wondering if I can design my own shield too to put on other bikes. Let me know if you got any ballpark figures from BHC
