I have an enquiry pertaining transfer of ownership of motorcycle.

The bike would be transferred to the company which the director / sole proprietor does not have the motorbike license.

The bike is going to be used by one of their office staff.

1. How to purchase the insurance before doing the transfer?

Will the insurance company ask for the owner or rider license?

2. Does the insurance covers the rider (office staff) or the company owner (sole proprietor) whom his name is the registered owner?

I hope someone able to enlighten me.

Thanks in advance.

i do not know full details, but i am aware of two types of policies:

1) a person, the individual himself, is insured to ride any motorcycle (assuming he has the license). usually taken by mechanics, since they require the ability to test ride bikes.

2) a motorcycle insured for 'any rider'. usually dispatch or delivery companies, since they need the bikes to be able to be ridden by any staff employee, assuming licensed.

both of these are expensive and therefore only practical for corporate purposes, and not usually bought by private riders. you'll have to ask the insurance companies for more details, but not many people know of their existence because its not usually bought other than by companies.

alternatively, if you want it to remain as private ownership/use, then just the rider apply insurance as per normal. the insured rider does not need to be the registered owner, neither does the registered owner need to be an insured rider.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!
