Vara Bros....Anyone interested...I open this trip to All SBF...

 

Hi All, I'm organising a trip this weekend on 21-22 Feb 09. Package will include entrance,bike,camping area Endau-Rompin Insurance and Lunch,tea-time,BBQ and supper on 21st and B/fast and Lunch provided on 22nd. All U need is to be ready for the trip is Ur machine and Urself...On 22nd Feb, morning Hike to Taka Tinggi to enjoy the Water Fall and back by Lunch then set Off to GP for a Bike Wash... Do bring ur own Tent too,as we will be sleeping in e OutDoor!!!...A Safety Vehicle will also be on Our Tailend!!! . The $ for All these activities of weekend Off-Road Trip will be updated shortly

I'm considering to upgrade to a Honda Varadero XL1000V but need some advise from experienced Varaderos Bikers out there, before I decide:-

 

1) What is the machine or OTR price right now?

2) Where do you recommend me to buy it from?

I have some bad experienced from previous motorbike dealers and would like to avoid them.

3) How is the fuel consumption like? Is it using a carburetor or fuel injection system?

I came to know that this bike consumes much more petrol as compared to other bikes of the same category eg. V-Strom, Fazer etc.

4) Most motorbike dealers nowadays offer 2nd Party & FT, is it wise to do so if I choose to buy a new bike?

5) How much is the cost of maintenaning this bike and where do you recommend to have done?

I have been riding the Vking for he past 3+ years, i am riding the carburator which was obselete from 2003 onwards and thats when the Varadero came with EFI and thats unchanged till date. Generally, the bike is a gem and runs amazingly and for the fact that u are seeking brand new bike, you will probably be buying one helluva bike. At the end f the day, u are buying a Honda, you cant wrong with that. Now to aswer your questions;

 

1. The on the road rice for a 2007 Varadero ( which is in stock at Mah Pte ltd and one last piece at Boon Siew) will be an est of 23k. You might wanna cal hem and ask if there is a hike due to the yen gaining power over the us dollar.

 

2. I will suggst that you buy from Mah Pte Ltd

 

3. I am riding a carburator model and the new ones are EFI, maybe our EFI bros can advice on FC. Its really comparable to most adventure bikes. And fazer is NOT an adventure bike so no point comparing apples to oranges. The closest comparison should be the Suzuki DL 1000 which our bro ASAP is riding. He will be the best person to do a comparison as he has owned both of them.

 

4. I stress, very hard, that you should not save the few hndreds between first party comprehensive and 2nd party F&T. Its probably very tempting but when things go wrong, You will thank your lucky stars you paid that few hundreds more. Nothing will go wrong with the bike, as it is really an amazing ride, but **** happens.

 

5. 3.8l of oil with a new oil filter and two plugs. Thats about all you should worry about. Prolly 100 bucks every 12000 km as recomended by Honda. But for us here, i think its oredi a norm to change our oil every 5000-6000k cos most of us running the carb model which is aging now. Its good to take care of the engine as its aging even though its a Honda and also an amazing bike, But nothings wrong changing oils every 12000 km if ou dun beat it up on the NSH too ofen.

 

Come down for ur meet ups if you want a hands on feel of the bike, its gigantic proportions and its amazing built quality. We ride Varadero 1000s, we know its one helluva bike. If you gt more queions, come join us for a chat, we will be more than willing to share bro.
