Hi,

One week ago, i changed a new set of my clutch plates and the mechanic adjusted my clutch cable to a "loose" setting. "loose" meaning alot of free play + clutching in doesn't need much strength.

prior to repair, my clutch was very tight, totally no free play and required much more gripping effort to clutch in. my mechanic said my set of clutch plates need to be changed.

i work as a despatch rider, and after 1 week of work, my clutch became "tightened" again. There is still free play but I can tell the free play had became significantly lesser compared to when i left my bike shop 1 week ago.

I went back for a check, then the mechanic said it could be the way i control my clutch, maybe i have been half-clutching most of the time. But i never leh. Then he just adjust the cable somemore to make it loose again.

What are the main reasons for this to happen?

Anyway got threads on "lubing the clutch cable"?

I would say the clutch cables are stretching. New cables do not come pre-stretched. Need sometime to let it stretch. Lubing a clutch cable would be similar to lubing brake cables on a bicycle.
