Yah as long as u work methodically and keep track of the screws n bolts neatly, shouldnt be a problem. And yes, DIY is addictive. Because once you know how to fix stuff, u no longer want a dirty mechanic's hand to fiddle with your shiny fairings. Haha.

Not advisable, wont last long. Unless powder coating or anodize.

Welcome! The first tip is to change your tyres when you can, which is what I'm trying to do, haha!

Stock tyre so bad? I just collected my bike and rode in the rain back to Jurong, seems okie.. Maybe I was ridding slowly haha

actually good prep work can make standard spray paint quite durable. i redid my phantom last time. tank, fenders, rims all with just conventional spray paint. it lasted more than a year until i traded it in. if say 1 year later got small chip, just sand down and can easily touch up.

btw, i ever read somewhere powdercoating rims is not advisable. usually it involves heating to cure the powder. this high temps actually changes the metal structure and make it more brittle and prone to fracture. plus labour is ex, since need to remove bearings and tyres.

its not bad, but if u always ride hard and fast, u can easily overcome the tyre's ability, thats why daniel advice to change, because he is a hard rider. i have yet to reach that level. scooter = ride like uncle. HAHA!

Eh? I said it's good for normal, economical commuter riding. Will last you very long. I've done 10k on them and there's no wear. It's what it's designed for.

Only if you really want to do a bit of touring or Malaysia riding, then maybe consider changing. I've discovered that the killer is not really wet, but loose surfaces like sand, gravel, soil, etc. If you want to test the limits of the tyres, just brake over a loose surface - your front wheel will skid out from under you, which is very hard to control. Another test is to ride over the loose surface at an angle - you'll start to feel the tyres slipping almost immediately.

To sum up, the tyres are perfect for their purpose. But if you want to use it a little harder, better tyres wouldn't hurt. :)

Haha! I am soft rider. Wanna ride hard, but wanna be comfy on sofa and protected by windshield and fairing, and lazy to change gear. ;)

Double affirmation.

Learn the hard way recently , lucky it's just some minor repair on the bike.

Especially on well camouflaged loose surfaces that blends well with the road. Don't have much time to do preventive reaction. You can never be too careful!

Yup, I had many close shaves on Malaysia mountain / country roads where the soil on the side gets on the road. Even in Singapore you can see gravel left by turning heavy vehicles.

No worries! :) Your tyres will serve you well! If you want to go North, just consider some aftermarket tyres. Else, just go gentle on rainy days and you're set! :)

Just serviced my CVT at Bukit Indah SYM. Realized my rear wheel was not secured tightly. Mech tightened the bolt for me. You have to remove the exhaust n lower the rear wheel axle to access the rear wheel bolt.

When ur bike is on main stand try moving the wheel from side to side with ur hands. It shld not move about. If it does, get it tightened. I guess mine either came loose or it was not properly torqued at the factory cos I have not fiddled with the rear wheel from the time the bike was bought.

Cheers n ride safe bros!

If you're riding a bike but not calculating the 50 possibilities in the 50 meters of road ahead of you, then you're dangerous and shouldnt be on one.

Thanks for the tip kumar. Will check mine ltr.

Also just serviced my CVT. Cleaned everything out and reinstalled my dr pulley sliders. Took it out the other time because it was rattling. This time cleaned up really well and greased properly and now back to usual. Probably because i used the correct type of grease this time. the normal one i used usually melts into gooey brown stuff!

Rly enjoying the performance frm the sliders agn! Woohoo! :)

Btw, measured my belt and its at 28mm. Original in parts catalogue shows 28.7mm. Manual mentioned wear limit is 22.5mm. Like long way to go eh but at the same time duno if safe to stretch until the limit. 15k km only wear 0.7mm?

I guess wear length is one but must inspect belt for cracks n deformity. The mech took mine out n really bent it around to inspect for signs of crack. All gd for now.

maxima waterproof grease. from mustafa. $14.50. good reviews online. good for bearings. for our CVT, i find it best that the variator area is totally clean, no need grease. only the clutch need it. i tried grease in variator area, flings everywhere and makes alot of noise.

Yes i agree on the 20k mileage base on a rough estimation. My mechanic recommends it too.

More lasting made in Japan, mine is now around 18k plus.

Still going strong.

Naim have you tested the Maxima waterproof grease on the clutch>?

Yah. But i didnt dismantle the clutch assembly yet. I just clean out the grease inside where it rides on the shaft. So far so good.
