Honestly if talking about looks, my bet is on maxsym, aprilla, TMAX. The rest is a bit boring. If I really have to pick 1 without a care, I pick aprilla. Maxsym and TMAX is very similar.

 

The bikes I looked at before buying my maxsym 400i was aprilla Sr max, silver wing, TMAX, Kymco Xciting, Piaggio mp3, x10.

Do you have power at your cigarette lighter socket when the ignition is OFF?

My previous Maxsym always had power at the cigarette lighter socket. The USB had power only with ignition ON.

 

My current Maxsym has power on both places only when the ignition is ON.

 

Could you check that on your bikes, please?

I dun have cigarette socket charger so didn't test that but should be same.

 

For me need to engine power on them usb got power. Note that do not need to start engine.

 

Also tested with engine power off and the under seat engine cut off and on. Both do not have usb power

Any place to test on battery usage/leak when bike is idle/completely off. Parked for 03days, battery completely drained when i tried to start it.

One posssiblity could be the seat is not properly closed but i checked that before i left it idle.

 

It started fine after installation of new battery. However, there a period of time after starting, smoke was seen coming out of the seat, quite similar to what Kumar had encounter, and smoke disappeared after the bike warmed up.

 

Just went thru some previous post.

 

So it's engine gasket leak at mileage 12.5K. Now, how soon must i get it serviced? Hate to leave the bike at the workshop for a few days. Dilemma!!!

 

Kumar...Did SYM Johor resolve your smoking engine within a day? Do they have ready spares OR have to order ahead before you went?

 

Any helpful insights to these issues?

Hey bro.. It sucks.. I know. I had to leave the bike there overnight. It's a lot of trouble. They had ready parts though.

drop by a bikeshop and ask to help test ur charging system (or if u have a multimeter also can). make sure its producing at least 13.5 volts at idling. should hit 14 when you rev up. if all is well, probably ur battery is just worn out.

Have but the refresh rate is so slow that i find it useless to monitor charging and hw much the charge drops when cranking the engine. So i installed a normal one as well.

you can wire the cig socket direct to the battery. put a fuse for safety.

Got a brand new still in packaging original air filter to let go at $15.

Bought a few months back. have since changed to after market filter.

Battery usage/leak: Reroute the wires of ERP unit to ignition which means ERP unit will not be powered when bike is off. Makes sense.

 

Engine gasket leakage: Just a suspicion, the actual cause is a connection hose to engine under the seat ( that's what the mechanic said) somehow was loose and some engine oil leaked out and when the engine heats up. Smoke appears momentarily. Heng Ah!

 

All's well now.

hose? hmm i wonder what hose carries engine oil. don't have any from what i know. if coolant, then maybe yes la. can provide us more details on this bro?

 

btw the promo seems more like the usual price. nothing special. most shops also quoting $300+ thereabouts.

btw i have my IU connected directly as well and always on (i think most of us here have that). no draining of battery eh. i really don't think this is main culprit.

Just have to monitor for any irregularity on battery usage meanwhile I'm disconnecting the batt for prolonged inactivity.

Erm, that's weird. My Iu is off of engine off. I'll verify again in the morning
