I'm going to give my bike a good shine.

All this while I only hand wash with carwash soap.

So, before I do anything wrong, advice me.

I don't know which wax polish to use(brand).

What not to use.

What not to do.

My bike do have some scratch.

What is the right technic.

Regards

just buy normal wax. DONT buy those that you gota keep polish till shine. what i'm using is spray type. spray on paintwork, use a sponge spread the juice. after all covered, smoke a stick, then use a cloth for polish to wipe off the dried coat. PLS DONT USE BATH TOWEL or WHOSE CLOTHING. that cloth dont cost much. as for scratch, buy a "polish", its POLISH. use abit is enough. polish the scratch, wipe off then WAX. polish & wax is different. polish can cut into paint. if your scratch is deep, dont bother using polish.

if your bike has alot of oil stains, try to clean all off before you start wax. otherwise your polish cloth very fast become black.

Do it in the shade, not in the sun.

Make sure you use a clean cloth. Change when the cloth becomes black.

For brands, there's Meguires, Mother's, etc. But I've always used Turtlewax (it's cheap) and it works just fine and the results are great.

Be careful not to get the wax on brake/clutch/coolant hoses because it'll be hard to remove sometimes and leave a stain.

I polish my bike like how i polished my boots. Same technique. But... I haven't been doing either for quite some time now.

Been using Autoglym Bumper Care for these type of issues. It will make matt black blacker, juz like new.

polishing is never a easy job bro.... like mentioned before, wax and polish are 2 different thing.... though nowadays lots of polish contain some wax also....

basically if u want to do a decent job, you can follow the steps below....

Step 1. Clean all fairing with shampoo and rinse off...

Step 2. Clay all fairing(paintwork) using a claybar (1st important step to polish and wax)

Step 3. Polish paintwork whole bike with a cleaning polish compound...(avoid circular method as most polish compound contain abrasives up down left right will be ok...)

Step 4. remove the polish residue

step 5. Remove Stain marks and minor scratches using a strong polish compound (same technique)

step 6. remove the residue.

Step 7. now u seal your paintwork with a layer of sealant.(some sealant need longer cure time, some need short hence u need to know the sealant curing time.) (sealant help protect your paintwork from tree saps, bird shits and water spots n last longer than wax.)

Step 8. remove residue from sealant.(some need some dun need so read the sealant instructions clearly)

step 9. Put a 1 layer of wax and wipe off after 1-2 min...(wax is the one that bring out the shine and super smoothness of the paintwork.)

well if just paintwork and it's a naked bike, i think i will take no more than 1 hour, but if 1st time trying, i believe u will take about 2 hours....

hope that helps... :)
