I still kept the box. Sticker on it has a P/N lookalike: HA-4098. Do you have this?

Sure, you'll save petrol, bike will have better performance if you change to K & N filter but if you change to KNN filter your bike will become vulgar when you ride it!!.....hahahahaha

Hi all,

Me new bie in DIY my bike, so need some advice.

Just bought a K&N air filter from LAB, but do not wish to let them change it for me. So i gay kiang go back to DIY myself. I tried asking my friend where is the air filter, and he told me its at the left side of the engine (on a seated position). I tried opening that, and my engine oil flows out...

So...is it easy to change air filter?

If so, where is the air filter, and how to change it? A step by step guide will be nice as i really dunno how.

Perhaps u shld state ur bike model so that other forumers can help answer ur question :)

If i'm not wrong, yes, version S u change from the left of the bike...

But for v-tec series, the air filter is actually below the oil tank...

(u may recharge the air filter and change spark plugs at the same regular intervals)

Good luck!

hi bro... For DIY session.. its good to do yur self n save money..

But penny wise pound foolish is not ideal...

If u want to DIY.. let the shop change. From there u see n ask n learn.

THus least u knw wht u r doing is correct.. Any thing happen u can blame the shop..

Asking from frens. if they haf experiance.its good. but if they say for the sake of saying. anything goes wrong. do u think they will accept the responsibilities...

No offence.. jsut my view....:goodluck: :goodluck: :goodluck:

if u r new.. always let the bike shop do...

My experiance. i once tried to install horn. almost burn my internal circuit.

Fuse burn... haf to push start...

it best to learn basic maintaince for your own bike.Removing the fuel tank is not as difficult as you think. This guide is for VTEC only not version S/R

Step 1-Remove your seat

Seep 2-you will see a screw is bot on the fuel tank to the chassis.Just unscrew it

Step 3-This step is a bit tricky,it will be helpful if you have a friend along with you.

You will see a two tube on the right side and a tube on the right end part of the fuel tank.Just remove all the three tube.A longnose piler is helpful in this area.

Step 4-After all the 3 tube is remove, gently slide your fuel tank to the backward and slowly lift up the tank.

Step 5-from that you will see three screw on top of the air box.Just unscrew it and remove the top cover and you will see your old air filter.

tink the kit contains the oil and a solution to clean the filter. i mayb wrong thou coz haven buy the recharger kit b4.. anyway, i tink the oil is not to prevent the filter from rusting, its to "catch" the finer particles that may sip thru if u dun apply the oil

how abt closing up the tank... u did not finish yet..

do bear in mind. if u ask a first timer to do it.

Openign is not a problem but putting everything back.

Putting back everything back is tricky especially the three tube.

If one of the tube gets squeeze n no return flow back to yur gas tank...

comes problem.... no fuel goes into yur carburator.

Yes u can diy but for a first timeer. not abviseable...

Say is so much easlier than doing it...

:goodluck: :cheer:

In addition to step 3, there's a wire connection for your fuel gague, remember to unplug.

to fix back, just do the reverse way .....
