9,300 executives take part in annual JP Morgan Chase race

SINGAPORE: More than 9,300 executives took part in the annual JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge.

The number of participants beat last year's turnout by a big margin.

Members of the business community discarded their shirts and ties for T-shirts and shorts to run the 5.6-kilometre road race.

It was flagged off at the Esplanade Drive by Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, the Minister for Community, Youth and Sports.

The route covered in the race included Republic Avenue, Republic Boulevard and Marina Promenade.

It ended at The Padang along Connaught Drive.

The event is seen as a platform to promote fitness and well-being in the workplace.

It allows participants to compete with their colleagues in a relaxed and social atmosphere.

The largest contingent of 473 came from PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Gurkha DI Penbragurung was the first to cross the line in 18 minutes 46 seconds.

The whole race was completed in an hour. - CNA/ir
