Electric Starter Not Working

Hi, what are the possible causes of the electric starter not working? I tried to start my bike this afternoon but it just wouldn't go. Tried kickstarting too, but it did not help. Then I opened the fuel tank and thought maybe there was insufficient petrol. Went to top up and strangely enough, the electric starter could work already. But after switching off, it refused to budge again. However, this time round, kickstarting worked.

 

Could it be the battery problem? Or do I have to go to mechanic to fix the entire electric starter circuit? How much will it roughly cost?

its either time to change your batteries.. if not will be your rectifier spoilt causing your battery unable to charge.. go to motor diam they will help u fix the problem.. wont be that expensive if battery spoilt.

Hi have the prob b4,the electric starter the gear thingy might have broken and got stuck.....thus cannot kick start also....had no choice had to tow it ...cannot push start also....so the result was the electric starter was broken....

problem is whenther when he tried to start there is any weird sound coming out or not ..

Is there any clicking sound coming from ur bike when u press the ignition button??

If dun have, ur starter motor might be damaged liao.

Yes, there is some sound when I press the ignition button. Last time, I had to throttle while pressing the button but recently, even throttle also not working.

 

Kickstarting works for now. Only the starter button is not working.

 

I also suspect it's the battery. Roughly how much will changing it cost?

If u have a voltmeter or multimeter, u can check the voltage level across the 2 terminals of ur battery. Normally, it requires a min of 12V to startup a bike.

Battery replacement not v expensive.

Advice is to get a more reliable brand like yuasa...
