Hi guys, I've got a friend who just offered me to take over his GT.

I've just finished the entire thread from page 1 and I gather that the main down side of the bike is its high cost of servicing. That said, since the warranty is almost over... any concerns with bringing bike other shops other than PML to service.....I'm guessing price would be lot lower due to the high cost of labour.

Which beckons my next question, who knows of a motortiam that is able to service the BMW without screwing things up?? I was doing my servicing with AC Motor while on the Tmax....but read somewhere that he wouldn't service this bike......

thks in advance

If price is an issue, suggesting that u get the tmax instead. Sometimes a Bmw will Bmw (bring more worries) if you pocket not deep enough

Hi Guys,

I had been riding since 2 decades on street and touring bikes, i must say that the BMW C650GT is the best bike that i ever owned. Riden on BMW K75, R1100RT and K1200LT. For once, i felt so comfortable on C650GT.

I need a maintenace cost compare between Tmax and C650GT, what i can comment is the gap is marginal at every 20K Km, not forgetting a japanese bike vs a German made machine.

Care to meet up if anyone is organising.

Maintenance cost, just go for tmax. BMW maintenance is definitely higher especially when it comes to belt replacement.

Tmax belt change and roller should not cost you more than 500 including eo lesser those point check. Aka agent check

Belt change for c650gt easier 1k.. What I know is belt cost 270, roller 160, 20k service charge 200. You need to do your math. If you want the detail just go down and ask pml. But I am sure easily 800 to 1k, will let you know next month.

Owing both tmax and c650 if cost is one consideration, just go for tmax..

I'm going for my 20K servicing at PML soon. What's the damage and what will they change? Any aftermarket parts I could consider instead? My C650 is 100% stock condition.

I be going in this wed.. Praying will have some change back after giving them 1000 note.. Hahah.. Belt, roller, u clip, air filter, spark plugs, brake pads, by the one 1000 excluding brake pads as I'm bringing my own pads, I think stock brake pads cost 160 each.

Estimated cost

Belt 270

Rolling 160

Labour charge 160

Air filer 30

Brake pads 380 assuming all 3 pads

Oil filer 20

Engine oil 60

Spark plug 40

20k servicing charge 200

1,320..

If you have not replace your tyres add another 500.. So 2k should have some change back..

I've changed a set of tires at 15K.. $340 I think Pirelli Diablos at outside workshop - the only thing I dare to change outside so far. Brake pads still plenty of meat left. My last 10K at PML was about $200.. so I think 20K will be about $500 since it's considered major. Anyone has replaced the stock paper air filter to K&Ns?

i dare not change outside because the bike is TPS, labour for tires is around 100. 20k servicing confirm more than 500.. belt, rollers and labour already 500 plus.. plus 20k servicing fee at least 700...

Actually TPS is common now, both cars and bikes. I've seen it when the tire was off the wheel. It's just a tiny box inside the rim with it's own batteries which is good for 2-3 years. No wires or connectors to mess with. As long as the tire installer don't do anything to the TPS, using any bike shop is fine. My tire installer was *****ing about how troublesome it was to take out the back wheel, as his method was to remove muffler. So I did some asking around in the net and there was not need to totally remove the muffler. Just need to loosen some bolts to offset the muffler is good enough to access the back wheel. Minor issue as long as whoever did the job is not rough and don't leave scratches. PML doesn't keep any tire stocks at all. Got to order, they got to find out price from supplier, make appointment etc. They charge more too. My preference is still to do outside for a simple job like tires.

I brought my own tyres in. (^_-) just make sure your tires are radial tires..

When I bought my 2nd hand c650gt from shop, they agreed to give me a new front Michelin as it's almost "botah". They had no difficulty changing n till now the TPS works fine.
