Bandit is very very old liaoz compared to VTEC1... think got 8~9 years difference.

Hence, performance-wise don't expect too much from a Bandit (oil/air-cooled) but think maintenance parts should be cheaper than a VTEC (liquid-cooled)?

Even the smallest spark can start a massive forest fire...

All S4 are liquid and air cooled.

There is a newer model of bandit with variable valve something like Vtec.....

but dunno which is better......

Basically... no matter which model, as long as the owner don't take care, it'll be a lousy bike. So, get what you like and care for it.

Hi pple,

Just what I feel, no offend:

Bandit might win S4 maybe because most S4 have powercut. Actually, bandit is not stable at speed after 170km++ while S4 is okie.

Suzuki do produce very good bike but the smoothness of engine is not really good, maybe cos bandit are older age. S4 vtec feel smoother and sound better.

Fuel comsumption wise, some bandit is abt 19km/L while some can reach 27km/L dun ask me way cos I dun know.

Maintainence wise, if you get a good cond bandit, maintainence aren't high, almost the same as most bike, jus change oil, plug regularly.

I think on the whole, S4 vtec is better although lost in top speed and acceralation, but how many time do we hit top speed?

That why S4 is so popular.

In case bandit rider flame me, I'm riding a BANDIT too. And I love my bandit

On my meter is 185 km/h at 12,500 rpm.. redlines at 13K, never try top.

Mine is a bandit, not a bandit V.

Funny, I always thought they were air/oil-cooled only......

Anyway go here for a good round up on all models of Bandit 400s from 1989!

Bandit V is more power...

asu all noe suzuki produce powerful bike.

as honda produce gd engine...

who say bandit dun have powercut...sure got but have 2 depend on previous owner got change it bo...

fuel comsumption wise is super4 better...

remember one thing...bandit V pick-up can is fast... frm o to 100km in 3.9sec only...(only if u dare to try).had been clocked by pro...

and u noe tis bike is older than super4 version S leh.old bike so power liao wat if its a new bike...got ppl clocked be4 220+km/h

easily done 190km/h

and quite stable too...

btw i used 2 ride bandit V and now riding super4..can feel the different lor...frm a powerful bike to a relax bike...

It does not matter on the absolute weight. It depends on how long you

hold it.

If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, we will not be able to carry on as the burden becoming increasingly heavier.

Yes, but super hard to get a good bandit.

Those who know RG's bandit (the famous twin fog lamp-ultimate trunk ride bandit) know its one of the best kept 10+ year old bandits around... no expense is spared on this bike. Whatever Guan Hoe recommends, I pay. If you don't look at the bike and just listen to the engine sound, it sounds like half its age.

Most cases of bandit that I see are near gone case, except one other one I see at Guan Hoe... owner is 1st owner for 10 years liao... superb condition. He never wants to sell it tho...

Ask the Bandit thread people (Club Bandit) under their section. http://www.singaporebikes.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=9901

Maybe they will see one, or they are selling their own bikes. Even if a bandit has a good engine be prepared for things to fail (due to old age)... eventually if you replace enough parts it will be a good bike... stand by 4 digits hor...

Even the Bandit I ride is not mine... RG lend me to ride, he won't sell.

but than again ...if the bike cost 1.5k ...do up the bike add another 1-2k

still worth it ?? some more most of them the COE going to expire already

with that price could get a Ver s or add abit more for a VTEC

how ah ?

If you like the gruntier performance and cornering on monoshocks (and not having your suspension stolen :-) ), then maybe Bandit is for you.

I don't think I can recommend this bike to someone without the passion. I myself would NOT ride the average bandit, it would just be too much trouble. Except for a few exceptional bikes I have seen, most are almost ready for the scrapheap (ar but then hor, I'm totally surprised how many bandits which I consider "better off scrapped" still manage to run on and on... they are a bit like Lao K liddat).

But then, even an old Ver S will also be coming up to the time when things start breaking down. As for COE, quite a few already past 10 years, you can get one of those, most owners back then paid $1 for 10 years COE, or get a 9 year bike and pay COE.

The bandit is probably the harder choice. A lot of people buy a bandit thinking its cheap, end up in heartbreak. A lot of time, a lot of effort to get a good bike. Then MAYBE you can get a good bike. Best thing to do is drag it into Guan Hoe (NOT GHC) and ask them to strip it down. Do one time swee swee, then hope for the best...
