buying bike from individuals

just get my license.. now planning to a get bike. i will use mainly for transport to and from work. so i think economy bike like honda wave, sonic..will do. search the forum ppl sell this sell that. im very noob. scare ppl will chop me..ask me pay this pay that. any kind soul care to share how to buy bike from ppl? assuming the guy told me coe 2014, road tax april 2007, continue $80 for 20 mths. wat shud i ask him? transfer fees? any other fee? i need some rough estimate amt. :giddy:

things u need 2 pay..

1)his selling price.(usually should be ard the total amount of instalments paid up or downpayment)

2)the coi afterwards.1 and 2 makes up total price 4 bike including interest so shouldn't be unreasonable price.

3)ownership transfer.

4)insurance.

5)road tax if applicable.

the main thing is to go view the bike.. with some fren who riding if possible..

 

transfer thing very simple actually.. u jus need to pay insurance b4 u can take over the bike.. then both of u can go down LTA to do transfer or asked bike shop to do for u..

Picoz, buying from private bikers may be the best, but as all seller they want the best price and will they not tell u of any defects on the bike? It affect the agreeable price. Think about it. Just my 2 cents or "kaipo".

When buying bike or anything we should not pro seller, bikers or shop. As I stated, will any bikers, seller or motorcycle dealers tell you anything that will affect their target price. This is 'MORE' true with high financing, all will be out to get the best price so their liability will be lesser. Just my view.

while we cannot know how good is the engine is.. but at least we can test ride the bike.. and private seller, if they r keen to let go, they willing to lower down the price.. as long as the price still better than push to bike shop.. they jus wanna earn the margin of the selling price u giv and the bike shop giv..

 

bike shop lei.. they wil see ppl.. if u r noob, and no experienced tag along with u buying from bike shop, then u will kena carrot high chance.. they open business to earn $$ and to pay for his staff salary mah.. right?

 

for private seller, if thing spoilt after u buy, u lan lan.. so it's ur job to check or test the bike b4 buying..

 

for bike shop, they will tell u they will giv u warranty.. but not in paper.. so.. if u kao peh later, they entertain u, u lucky.. else u oso lan lan.. rite??

Yes you need, its normally will state in the reciept "labour charges" or "services charges". Normally will stretch between 20 to 50 bucks.
