Hello,

I'm new to the forum as you can see. I have a class 3(from the army) and I am also a cyclist. I want to get my bike license (2B) but am unsure of the procedure.

As I got my class 3 in the army, I have no idea on how the booking system works. Anyone have any advice? I remember something vague like having to go through 8 lessons then a test?

Do I need my own helmet? Protective wear necessary?

For helmets, I'm just going to get the HJC full face, nothing fancy. The bike is just for transportation anyway, I assume I can install a "box" behind the pillion seat on every bike?

Is it possible to skip theory lessons? I don't own a car but I do drive on occasion and since I cycle on the road often, I still follow the rules so that part shouldn't be a problem.

Any help would be appreciated. Signing with CDC since they are the nearest, I read that BBDC has a lot of good reviews but unfortunately, BBDC is too far.

Helmets and protective gear should be provided at the driving centres.. only thing u need to wear is long sleeve shirt, long pants, shoes and gloves. not sure about the booking process though... sorry..

most bikes can install rack and box so no problem there.

Ride fast..ride safe..don't crash...

If u are going for your 2B at CDC, it's a must and u need to bring your own helmet and protective gears. Take note that full face helmet are not allowed, and the helmet u are using must be those approved type with the sticker intact.

U must still go through all the theory lessons and test, but u can skip taking the Basic Theory Test since u have got Class 3.

As for the top-up credits, lessons and tests booking, u can either do it online or over the counter.

All the best for your 2B. :)

Sorry but when you say Full Face, it means the ones that cover the jawline as well right?

So I just need my own helmet and protective gear. Thanks.

Will be going to register later. Hopefully the photo machine works.

edit: Forgot to ask, where can I get a cheap helmet that meets testing requirements? I'm still getting a full face after I pass, i'll probably dump or sell the open face helmet.

for requirements to take the lessons it would be best to ask the counter personnel during ur registration. but from my own experience 2 years ago at CDC what you need to have:

long pants

covered shoes

no sleeveless

gloves

what will be provided:

helmet (it really stinks)

rain coat (grab it fast when it rains or you will be left with ones that are too big or too small or with holes :dot: )

elbow and knee guards (it stinkes too, will make ur arm and ur pants really stink.)

if you want cheap and use and throw type of helmet u can go ah boy shop at kelantan lane to get a cheap one. just make sure it has the PSB approved sticker.

I can use any standard protective gear right? Cause I got some from mountain biking, its plastic but the elbows once are foam-ish.

Rain coat I can use my own right? I'll need one after I start riding anyway, worth investing now.

I'll go check out the shop at Kelantan lane, thanks.

you can check out helmetboy too the price are quite good. but same reminder look out for PSB logo when u buy them.

Full face not necessarily safer. If u wanna go fast and chiong, full face will save your chin when you buang. But if u are a safe and slow rider, half face offers better peripheral vision.

not sure about other schools but at CDC they have the helmet, protective gear and gloves on sale. helmet ($29), knee and elbow pads ($26) and gloves ($17)

if you have standard rollerblade knee and elbow guards is good enough. don't skimp on the helmet. you can come back from road rash but crack your skull and its bye bye babe

Hi, I got my class 3 from the Army as well just like TS, and I just enrolled for the class 2B at Cdc, I was told to book and go for the Circuit Training (Outfield Orientation). Just wanna ask, as I'm a first time class 2B learner, what to expect from the Circuit Training (Outfield Orientation)? As in, what will be taught?

Secondly, since I need to bring my own helmet for practical lessons, is it a must to have and use a helmet with the PSB sticker? How about if I have and use a helmet without a PSB sticker, but one with the DOT labelled on the back of the helmet instead, as shown below instead? What I'm trying to say is, can helmets without a PSB sticker but with DOT label be used for practical lessons?

the orientation is just like first day in the army driving centre. rules and regulations, where to report, what to bring, a brief overview on what station is where and what you will learn at those stations.

then an introduction to a motorcycle, clutch, how to change gear, accelerator, brake, how to "push" the bike off the stand, in school cannot use side stand by the way.

helmet must have PSB sticker, the instructor at CDC says they dont normally check but if they see yours without a PSB helmet, you will be removed from lesson, or even fail TP. PSB helmet quite cheap, $30+ for non member, 26.90 for member? might as well get one from CDC counter.

orientation just bring booklet and whatever BTT passes you have. no need to bring any gear.

Hmm.. Actually, I double checked my helmet, and I just realised there is a PSB sticker hidden in the inside of the helmet, underneath the padding. :)

So, which means to say, there won't be any riding at all for orientation?

at CDC, no riding. just show us around, what to do. only time we touch the bike is to see if we can push it back and forth, on and off the main stand.
