Hi guys , new to the forums so might ask some noob questions  .. I'm getting my license soon so i'm doing some research on scramblers cause i thought of getting one after getting my license. So far i came up with these three choices

KDX 200

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a287/My5tICal/kawasaki-kdx200-92-bikepics-303847.jpg

Yamaha WR200(Is this the right one?)

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a287/My5tICal/wr2_luci.jpg

Yamaha DT200WR

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a287/My5tICal/Phase12.jpg

1)Any idea which one is better?..I'll probably use it for transport but abit of power won't hurt anyone :cheeky: .

2)How much would it cost?..if let's say i get an old bike , and i do a total overhaul , would it feel like new?..

3)are the guards all those replacable by new ones?(All the plastic parts of the bike) , If yes would it be expensive?

Thanks for helping out guys , Cheers !! :thumb:

a kdx200 is pretty rare to find.. if u can get one.. it`ll be a gemstone.. moreover wif a motard set up like dat.. it`ll be like one in a million.. btw.. dt200wr n wr200 are da same bike.. just take a closer look.. n yes.. get da wr2.. cheaper parts n easier to maintain as its a durable jap bike.. stock is powerful enuff.. fuel consumption fer a stock wr2 can be arnd 20-25km/l dependin on ur carb settinz n style of ridin.. if wan more power.. juz changed exhaust system.. sprocket.. fast throttle.. n pre-mix it.. but i gotta warn u.. da exhaust is not legal.. use it at ur own risk.. but after doin all those mods.. dun expect it to be fuel-efficient as a stock wr2.. juz remember diz equation.. more power = more petrol.. less power = less petrol.. if u feel wr2 not enuff power.. can get a ktm2.. but it not fuel efficient fer transport as it more of a race ready bike.. maintenance will be definitely much higher den a wr2.. so derz a price to pay fer power.. =)

2)How much would it cost?..if let's say i get an old bike , and i do a total overhaul , would it feel like new?..

yes.. it wud definitely feel real gd after bein run in.. will cost arnd 600-1k.. dependin on wat u change.. piston.. block.. etc.. n after an overhaul.. u won`t be facing lotsa probs dat an old bike usuall gif.. but sum old bike if properly taken care off.. won`t gif much problems too.. my ex wr2 used to be a fn-plater.. n it doesn`t gifs much problem n monstrous pick-up power..

3)are the guards all those replacable by new ones?(All the plastic parts of the bike) , If yes would it be expensive?

guards meanin..? da front n rear fenders.. shrouds.. sideboards.. n headlite can buy brand new as a set.. fer arnd 280 if i laz recalled.. at auto-machinery behind mustaffa centre.. dey`re sellin lotsa yamaha genuine parts.. if like disc guards.. frame guards.. bash guards.. hand guards got a few brands like devol.. ims.. gadget.. acerbis.. zeta.. etc.. can try lookin at auntie shop at bendemeer.. she got lotsa stuffz fer scrammiez.. but i muz say.. dey dun come cheap.. u can try at chong aik too.. at desker rd n joo chiat rd..

here`z a pic of my ex-ride.. miz her loadz man..

runnin on pre-mix.. full pro-circuit system.. 52T Sprocket.. Domino Fast Throttle..

fuel consumption arnd 14-16km/l..

Thanks guys for all the replies , especially trail-sin :D. anyway how much would it cost to change to a LEGAL better-than-stock exhaust system , brakes and suspension (front and back) ? And usually Wr200 now cost how much?

many thanks guys!!

hmmm think i see my bike here! :cheeky:

anyway ez rule to follow

got $$$ to burn and u want the power - ktm2

not alot of $$$ to burn but still want power - dt200wr

no $$$$ to burn then u wont get power - xr200/xr125/dr200

my views though.

others may disagree, so use ur judgement and decide.

cheers

wr price is pretty stable... u get a 1k wr2.. u might spend up to 1k doing repair and replacement, so look around and dun ganziong wanna buy bike... there's plenty of good wr2 out there... but there's even MORE cannot make it wr2 out there... im 1 of the suay bird who falls into the 2nd option

btw.. my nick is TRIAL-sin.. newayz.. take a closer look at my bike pic.. it lookz like stock exhaust system rite..? da secret truth is.. it is actually a full-pc system.. so chances kena caught.. u decide.. fer more details.. pm me.. n i`ll tell u wat to do.. but it sure does gifs monstrous pick-up..!

as fer kdx200.. it has a frequent problem of its valve breaking.. but if u $$ to invest on dat rare bike.. it`ll be gd as its better off den da wr2.. but findin one is sg is like a needle in a haystack.. moreover a gd condition one..

back to wr2.. as fer da brakes.. check da brake disc as wr2 are old bikes n moz of da disc are warped out.. but not necessarily all wr2.. price range i`m not too sure.. as fer suspension.. no need to change.. it`ll cost 500+ to change da rear one.. changed mine b4.. fer fork.. juz service or change fork seals if itz leakin.. change both sides will cost u arnd 120.. changin da whole fork will cost 700-1k..

btw.. dt200wr n wr200 r da same.. only ppl call it differently.. juz like ppl call me trial-sin.. trail-sin.. at da end of da day.. u noe who/wat dey`re refferin to.. both of dem are dual purpose bike.. street n off-road use.. metal tanks fer street use n security purposes.. n yes.. they are both made in japan.. wr means.. wide ratio.. suitable fer road use.. unlike its cousin.. da yz.. purely off-road..

personally, i think that kawa parts are kinda hard to get here.. so though it is rather durable, once it breaksdown you're a gone f*c*.

i'm currently riding an xl200. it may seem rather obiang or underpowered, but actually if you put in an inverted fork it looks much nicer and changing the carb will give better torque. money/power ratio is actually not that bad. but of course if you plan to ride offroad, you can't really take big jumps cuz the suspension doesn't offer much ride so it's only trails for me...

serious power is the ktm. very torquey, lotsa power when you want it budden you might as well go burn money to try and please the motocross Gods.. =Þ

sorry to side track a bit, can ask sirhc_gnob where he change his fork and the price? I'm not quite satisfy with my stock dr200 fork and wanted to change to inverted forks but budget a bit tight. :cheeky:
