Ok I just got myself an 09 STR couple of weeks ago. It has been perfectly behaving itself until today.

Rode to work no problem (Lorong Chuan), at lunch time I decided to go for another ride no problem.

Came back to work, parked the bike. When I try to start her again (after 30 mins), dashboard has no power but horn and signal lights work just fine.

Battery volt on volt meter showing 13.1v

What options do I have?

1. Tow the bike to the nearest Bike shop

1.1 I can use bike rescue to tow that's not a problem

1.2 which bike shop should I tow it to (Mah?)

2. If not towing, anyone know how to trouble shoot?

thanks a bunch guys

Ended up towing to Kakit Bukit. Still dont know exactly why. They will let me know by tomorrow. Not fun if this happen in the middle of nowhere.

Most likely there's a lose cable somewhere as it looks perfectly fine.

Try checking if there is any blown fuse.

Blown fuse, no lights.

Batt flat, again, no lights.

Wiring short circuiting on batt terminal, it will have lights but you'll just hear the relay ticking off when you press the starter button and no power.

Is the starter motor working? If yes, check your spark plug.

If starter motor not working, electrical problem.

My 09 Daytona couldnt start on 2 occasions:

1. rectifier/regulator problem: batt flat (shouldnt be your case)

2. issue with the switch connector near the ignition key - part of the pin/socket burnt. Reasons unknown.

Update us on the outcome. Keen to know.

Cheers.

Yup fixed, $320 (Mah) on the switch alone + labour. but I got the previous owner to take half of the switch costs. So not too bad after all.

Now I can't open the fuel tank with the new key, any one had their key replaced before? Can they open the fuel tank with their new key or do we have to do something with the fuel cap key as well?

:(
