Hello everyone

What are the common sysptom for the below when its going to wear off or spoil.

1. Battery,Rectifier, Fuse

2. Chain, Spocket

3. Fork, Engine

4. Oil Filter - Do i need to change it whenever i change my engine oil?

5. Semi synth and Fully synth Engine oil - Any difference between this 2 xcept milege? Performance wise.

6. SparkPlug - Change at 10 k mileage?

I have a Volt meter installed on my bike and the meter read in this way , 8,10,12,14,16. At which number should i change my Battery? Currently the needle point at slighty below 12 when i set my bike at Neutral.

Also is washing of Chain advisable? If so. use what to wash ar? I need to find fault with my Vtec 2 fast coz still under 3 month warranty.

Lastly, how do i spell "sysptom" ? haha....

Thanks all in advance.

1. Battery, Rectifier, Fuse

•Battery is adviseable to change after every 1-1½ year.

•Rectifier and Fuse are major players so better be safe than sorry.

2. Chain, Spocket

•For Spocket and Chain my advise is change at the same time... At least you don't have to worry liao. Some tell tale sign will be the "teeth" of the Spocket has become Sharpper then its time to change.

3. Oil Filter, EO, Spark plugs

•this 3 things can change during your servicing... Depends on individuls... Some after 5,000km and some even more... See how you wanna treat your baby bah...

About the M'sia petrol, Its still petrol and it makes your bike move right? So no problem...

When batt is weak, u can hear it, cranking the bike is harder... time 2 change...

a voltmeter will check whether your rectifier is working fine... Idling should be around 12, and around 14 while riding...

fuse? no way... the fuse box has space for spare fuses, take a look...

Trust the engine, its a Honda... :D

when yr forks start leaking oil, time 2 service it...

Every 2 Oil change, change plugs and oil filter... thats wad i do...

Every 4000km, i will change semi-syn

Use kerosene to wash chain, very tiring process... and remember to oil it back...

Thanks both for your replies.

"cranking" what you mean by this word?

Ic, so Volt meter is actually to check the rectifier? Nothing to do with battery ar? Currently my needle point at slightly below 12. So means rectifier still doing gd ar?

What are gd brands for battery and rectifier? Looks like this 2 is most impt for vtec 2. btw where is fuse box ? :)

As for chain, anyone can tell me more symptoms abt it? Recently there's a bit sound coming from my chain and also when clutch in can hear "wong wong" sound coming from the chain while moving.

cranking means starting...

when its at 12, thats the batt reading...

while u r riding, rectifier should be charging the batt, so reading should be 14

yuasa for batt should be good... the fuse box is on the left side board... or izzit right? i forgot

yr chain might be too loose, go tighten it...

so lets say the volt meter needle fall to 10 or below means going change the batt and rectifier liao?

You mean when we press the start button, the "cranking" sound seem softer then b4 then its time to change the batt? Coz usually when i start bike i only press the start button without opening the throttle. So sometimes 2 times then can start

Abt my chain. Already tighten but still have the " wong wong " sound. Or is it too tight?

oO.. i think i get it.

Rectifier is actually = Charger?

So if volt meter show 14 means Rectifier working fine and is charging the battery. So if volt meter still maintain at 12 while moving means Rectifier spoiled so = no charging while moving tuas battery will die off fast since no charging? Correct? Then time to change rectifier ?

But what if battery spoil 1st before rectifier? lol blur...

Thanks all in advance.

1) Battery rec to change every 1.5 years max is 2 years. U can keep it running longer by using a proper trickle charger lik Battery Tender or AccuMax (Vector1).

Rectifrier normally ppl change every 1.5 years also but u can prolong this by regularly charging and maintaining ur battery in gd charge using batter chargers.

Fuse....when it's gone time to change, keep spares.

2) Chain is spoil will have a jagged link, like normally all straight then 1 or 2 links points up like a mountain ! Sprockets will become sharp like ninja star.

3) Fork, advisable to change fork oil and seal every 1.5 years too. Cuz the seal will get brittle and eventually break down causing oil to leak. Also the fork oil will break down as well over time. Engine, rec to go for valve clearance regularly.

4) Oil filter, if u can afford change at every oil change is good, if not once every 2 oil change.

5) Use fully sny if possible. the oil will help u save in the long run. clearner engine, better protection at high speeds and rpm, less wear and tear, better fuel consumption etc etc.

6) Plugs every 2 oil change is good.

This above is just a general guideline i follow. Not necessary that u follow them too.

Cheers !

PS : Wash ur chain regularly with kerosene and after oil ur chain is 4T or chain wax.

below 10 means, ur battery not charging properly. need to change battery & rectifier.

cranking = erh erh erh sound (something like tat), same as car. basically when ur battery weak, the cranking sound will sound from high pitch to low pitch (like having sore throat) then to no sound. Tow truck will come in next.

The wong wong sound is ur disc plate lah... at first i thought is chain too. i think most if not all s4 hav tis wong wong sound.

frend, i always go malaysia pump petrol 1. Malaysia petrol gt better mileage is becos the petrol is rougher, more difficult to burn. Tt's y u can get better mileage.

Singapore petrol is better smoother easiler to burn tt y shorter mileage.

Jz my own knowledge. Correct mi if i am wrong
