Be careful of Cheap Vespa on Sale

Hi. Fellow bikers,

 

I recently enquired a guy by the name of Sergio.

Previous he was selling a PX200 at around 1.9-2.3k..

But later he said that his bike was send to Kota Kinabalu as he was transfer from Singapore to East Malaysia...

He wanted me to transfer a sum of $ to him so that he will ship the bike back to Singapore first before we can closed the remaining deal via his friend in Singapore...

 

Of course.. I do not want to risk my hard earn money for tt...

I pass...

 

Then just today, I saw him post another bike for sale. A LX150 at $3k+...

This time round, I ask my friend to ask him instead..

Guess what??

This LX150 is also send to Kota Kinabalu and the same reasoning is provided. ie, in order to purchase the bike, the buyer need to transfer a small token of money to have the bike ship back to Singapore......

 

Fishy?? I have attach an email reply from him...please read and you can be the judge...

Thanks for my interest in my bike am Sergio Vitori an Italy/Brazil expatriate and ex footballer whom imported the bike to Singapore from Italy last during my 18 months stay in Singapore as its an Italian model , as its an Italian model with its engine number is clearly M682M3003853 and chassis ZAPM6820000010004 as i got it registered there in Singapore number Plate : FBG4710Y also everything is in tact as the bike has all original parts but due to my new job i relocated to Malaysia two days now just to find its practically impossible to use it there here in Malaysia, it has a low mile age of just 13335 Kilometers and also has only two minor scrates as are clearly illustrated on the pictures attached to you also it was registered on 25 Jul 2012 and the COE is valid still Jul 2022

 

As you can rightly see from the pictures attached to you the bikes is a very beautiful piece as has been garage kept most of the time in its box all and rarely saw any raindrops as per the wet weather recently in Singapore,

 

 

Also comes with a rear carrier with fitted backrest, black piped seat, fly screen, carbon brake covers, Dynojetted with a P & M tuning exhaust, underseat storage, factory fitted immobiliser, glovebox, Hpi clear so as clearly illustrated and explained,it comes Inclusively with an official Vespa/Piaggio front windshield and rear matching storage box,There is also storage in front panel and helmet storage under the seat. Also attached is a Nelson Rigg bike cover.

 

All is is was such a beauty for my LX150 which i have no choice but to give away now as per this unforeseen situation as per the regulations in Malaysia so i am willing to sell it at just $3300 as i wanna just recover back the fund paid for the import duties so if your interested in it and cant easily come here to Kota Kinabalu to view it, I can easily ship it delivery to you with home delivery and all expenses taken care by myself and also perform the certificate of Ownership Transfer directly to your name but for this i will need the details as follows:

THEY WANT YOU TO TRANSFER AN SAID AMOUNT TO UNKNOWN PLACE THROUGH WESTERN UNION SO AS TO FACILITATE THE SHIPPING

OK,I will be sending funds ASAP but before i make the payment,there is

something i need you to be aware of,i just received an email from the

shipping company that will be in charge of the pick up.They are saying i

need to pay them their fees which is 1,200 before they proceed with coming

for it and the only form of payment that they accept is Western Union Money

Transfer.Where i am,the nearest union office is 8hrs from me and i could

also send it online using their website,but they are not accepting any of

my Credit cards.I don't know if it will be ok,if i include this agent's

fees in the payment i will be sending you now,so on receipt of the total

funds,you will remove the additional funds of 1,200 and help me send it at

your local Western Union office which can be found at the post office or

you could send it online at http://www.westernunion.com . Let me know if this is

There is another scam which works along the same lines but makes you think you've gained something.

 

Same as above, but they will actually PAY the funds into your paypal account. It will be for the price of your bike + some extra meant for you to ship the bike to them.

 

E.g. You ask for $5k, they pay $5.8k into your PayPal account.

 

They then instruct you to send the $800 to their shipping agent via Western Union.

 

The agent will never show up to ship. Meantime, they file a complaint with PayPal, stating that goods not delivered, obtain a chargeback. PayPal pays them back, takes money from your bank account or proceeds to claim against you/your bank.

 

The dangerous bit is that you're under the illusion that you have earnt/benefitted when you see the money in your PayPal account.

 

 

The seller always says they are overseas. They will say that are ok with your asking price. Tells you they can ONLY pay by PayPal as their bank account is linked to it. They also will say that they will foot all transfer/shipping fees.

 

 

I received one of those emails regarding my previous bike as well. I emailed the seller back, telling him bluntly that I was aware of such scams, and to safeguard myself, he must agree to the following.

 

Transfer all shipping fees / agent fees / documentation fees / transfer fees to the respective people themselves.

Only if he agrees to those terms, which will be brought up to PayPal should a "failure to deliver claim" be filed, then I will accept his purchase.

 

Needless to say, emails stopped immediately.
