Sym Joyride unable to start

Hi fellow bikers, appreciate your advice.

I have a Sym Joyride old model, i have not started for 5-6 days and I couldnt start today.

When i press the ignition button and throttle, it just coughs and refuse to start.

After cranking engine for 5-6 times, i can see the dashboard's light getting dimmer and coughing sound softer.

Engine still refuses to start.

 

Next, i use foot to kickstart, but no reaction.

What could be wrong? Please help me, thanks in advance.

It could be your battery. Did you try turning your choke on? Since your bike hasn't been started for so many days, it's possible that the engine is too cold. Did you try to kick-start many times or just once?

Not sure where the choke is. Let me google and find where it is.

I did kick-start many times, but there's no response after doing it several times. Usually when you kick-start it, you will feel the engine's slight response.

But i felt nothing.

 

after reading the above comments, would you still be more inclined to suspect battery problem?

Hmmm...I wouldn't say it's not a battery problem because there might be a chance that both the battery and kickstarter have failed lol. I just found an owner's manual online, I don't think there's a choke on your SYM. Anyway, try and hold the ignition button and twist the throttle in an on/off manner while the button is pressed. Also, is your 'kill engine switch' turned off?

 

Actually could have many problems like your spark plug spoil or your CDI gone bad. Or maybe even some connection came loose. I think you better call a tow-truck and send to workshop if trying my method (the press and twist) doesn't start your bike.

Light on the dashboard becomes very dim.

sigh..... looks like a trip to the workshop is inevitable.

Highly likely battery is weak. Purchase the battery and fix it ownself is the best option.

DIY. Either take the battery out and look for some kind soul to help you fully charge, or bring that batt to a shop to fully charge.

 

Do this first - it's one of the common solution.

 

Check spark plugs whether they are wet or not. Wet cannot start. Change if unsure.

Oh and yes, DIY if you know how to (and have the time). Or maybe try kick-starting like 10 times...miracles may happen xD
