Selling Bike and paying expired road tax

I am selling my bike however the roadtax just expired today. The LTA advised me that for me to renew my road tax i had to renew my insurance. However the insurance if i renew it is a sunk cost and i get no refund from the insurance company even though i am not riding it, so i lose like 200 sgd to renew the roadtax which seems a complete waste to me.

 

I have found a buyer who is getting his own insurance moving fwd and we are going to transfer the bike ownership though i am not sure what the situation is with transferring with expired roadtax. Is this possible and we transfer ownership and then the roadtax he just pays as i believe it is a 10sgd fee for up to one month late roadtax payment, or can i just pay the roadtax at the LTA when we do the transfer?

 

the bike is 1 year old so dont think it needs inspection.

should have lay up your bike, or extend your insurance for half a year before it expire. I doubt u can transfer your bike ownship if the road tax has expired. U will have to renew your road tax before u can sell it. which means u have to get insurance, u can get 80% of your insurance back if u cancel your insurance.

yea bro, no choice have to get insurance, then road tax. after transfer then cancel.

 

Without road tax, cannot transfer bike.
