Was repairing my bike at a workshop due to overheating issues. And the mechanic said that my thermostat was jammed up and he removed it. I'm just curious, is it really ok to remove it? Will there be any complications?

He removed and bypassed the thermostat? Is your radiator fan running non stop now?

My personal experience the bike engine becomes rougher and the temperature of the coolant rose up faster without the thermostat. The manufacturer put the thermostat for a reason to regulate the coolant flow, so that the coolant has sufficient time to dissipate the heat through the radiator cooling fins.

I put back the thermostat removed by the previous owner the bike runs smoother and cooler than before.

Another feedback I heard from a mech is that the use of thermostat is to, allow coolant to circulate to your engine once it reach a level of temp eg. 80degrees.

That is especially beneficial for motorcycles located in cold countries, while I didn't notice any absurd engine roughness after removing them. The bike now runs generally cooler.

Let it warm up longer for morning rides if you're worried about premature engine wear due to engine not running at optimal temp like some said.

Why not removed the thermostat, cleaned it and placed into cup, pour hot water into it as to verify it's functionality. It will expand or contract due to it's material differences. If it does function well , why change? U just need to clean it up, remove those unwanted stuffs on thermostat, get new Oring and re-install it back.
