Can't boot from Windows CD!

Hi guys, got a problem with reinstalling my Windows XP.

 

It's a friendly version I burned onto my CDR and it jus doesn't boot from start, even after I changed my BIOS startup priority.

 

All I remember was that when I tried burning the software onto the CDR, a window pop up prompting me that some data might be lost if the copying is to be processed.

 

So, I am wondering has there anything gone wrong during the burning process? Or is there anything missing from the CDR which cause the CD not to boot from start.

 

The software was initially in a NRG file, but I converted it to ISO and subsequently extract the files from within using WinRAR before burning it onto the CDR.

You shpuld not have done that. I guess once you have extracted out by using WinRAR, the boot information is already lost. All bootable CDs are using CDFS, something like NTFS and FAT. This will enable the System to boot from the CD. You cannot extract out the boot information thruogh WinRAR. If you are using a CD/DVD Burning program, please load the image, like NRG or ISO and burn through there, do not extract out the image, unless u know what you are doing.

 

Do check also if the WinXP OS Image is bootable or not. Hope that helps.

yes, bro.. i finally solved it by burning the NRG file by burning it with nero.

maybe next time you can just use the clone CD option from nero. that will save you some trouble,
