I will be going to the west coast of USA next year, and is contemplating getting a motorcycle over there. Given the low exchange rate now, it may be cheaper to ship it back to singapore after riding for a year.

Anybody can advise on the feasibility ? cost and legal aspect.

many thanks.

this is a belated post... but you're probably not back in singapore yet!

buddy of mine shipped his bike back via sea freight from the east coast and after clearing customs at PSA, he left it inside the terminal and went to LTA to figure out how to register it.

when LTA found out it was older than 3 years (i think from date of first registration?) and his registration attempts were declined.

if you're bring yours back, make sure the bike's new and meet the newer emissions standards. this probably means no 2-strokes!

i agree with the previous reply - don't ship it back unless it's a special bike. just get one locally when you return... your grail bike'll always turn up in the right condition - just be patient!
