hi guys, been reading through some of the thread reguarding breaking in, there was one very informative thread about breaking in of 4 stroke engines, but what i want to know is, does that information of HARD breaking in also apply to 2 stroke 125cc engines? if it does, will the effects be the same? such as seating the piston rings properly? or if it doesnt, then what method should be used instead to break in the engine?

personally, break in with a dyno, can buy plenty of other things, it may even heavily subsidise your road tax.

Unless u r an executive that has money to burn, or super duper perfectionist, why dun you just take it easy, within certain speed/revs and relax on the expressway for a couple of weeks. Keeping within 80km/h is reasonable. Go thru the gears like u normally do, dun purposely shortshift, and i think the break in would be decent.

if your concern is having the piston rings break in properly, i shd ask, is your concern power, or fuel economy. I have read stuff suggesting power and fuel economy are inverse relations.

for 2 stroke 125, money may be better spent on a racing CDI or racing carb. Pardon me i know nuts, but i think those will satisfy the need for speed more.

my 2 cts worth.

my concern about breaking in the piston rings properly is so that there will no be any leakage past the rings which would therefore cause a reduction in both power and fuel economy.

in dat case.. juz stick to what the manual advices u to do.. i dont think big motor companies spend thousands to hire engineers who gives bad instructions in their manual..

the working of 2 stroke and 4 stroke engine is different.. u cannot use hard braking method for 4 stroke into 2 stroke.. u will hav the risk of piston jam if the 2t oil is not enough to lub the wall of the block internally..
