  5. hi guys, Have been overseas for quite some time. Been trying to get in contact with Guan Hoe Workshop (Eunos) but can't seem to get thru. Are they still operating at the same place? Same number? Thanks!
  6. Check your starter relay. Its under your seat (IIRC- the cylinder looking thing). Give it a light tap and try cranking again. This is a rather common prob
  7. hi gixxer lads, Was clearing out my storeroom and found my spare CDI. my bikey (400rr) is already gone so if you guys need a CDI let me know ya. Letting go at $60 Note: CDI has been in my store for quite some time so for whoever is interested, will let you test it out 1st to make sure that its fully functional. Simple test by just plugging into the bikey. Part no - 32900-33c00
  8. Yup yup. I put it back on thecharger after a day of 'rest'. No more whistling and the charger's LED has switched to indicate that it is set to trickle charge. Thanks mates.
  9. hey all, I've got a spare CDI for the GK76A. Dun need it anymore cos I sold off my bikey. If any of you chaps need it, I'm letting it go at $80. I'm not really sure if it still works so will test out on your bikey if you want it before we do any monetary transaction. I may have an OEM air filter lying around somewhere too that was used for a coupla weeks only. If I can find it, I will let go at $10. Drop me a PM if you guys are interested.
  10. the heatsink is attached to the rectifier (converts the AC to DC current). Seems like your rectifier may be fried. if you unscrew the rectifier from the frame and look on the underside, you may see that it has melted.
  11. Hi all, Just bought a new battery from Ah Boy. It a maintenance free Yuasa. Anyway, after filling it up with the liquid, I put it on my battery charger(Charger is a Vanson and pumps out abt 1Amp or so) to get it to be fully charged up. After an hour or so, the battery starts to whistle(venting gas i think) every 5 mins. I've taken it off the charger and its not whistling. Did I just kill my new battery? Is it still safe to use it? I've checked the voltage, it's just over 13V.
  12. hi all, I'm interested to get a vfr800. Does anyone know of any shops currently carrying 2nd hand units? Will go down and look see. Wanna trade in my current bikey. Thanks all! Cheers!
  13. hi phill, Check your air filter to see if its dirty or clogged up. It sounds like you may be running rich. (bike stalling after high rev, lack of power) When the mech at GH removed ur old plugs, did you get a chance to look at them? Were they black and oily?
  14. ram air tubing on the right channels air into the airbox the one on the left is a dummy just to make the bike look symmetrical
  15. You can remove the plugs on cylinders 1 and 4 without having to remove the fuel tank if you have a long enuff spark plug tool. For cylinders 2 and 3, no choice, have to remove the tank.
  16. i'm not riding a G4 anymore Was using Shell Advanced Ultra. hmm....exact viscosity cannot remember anymore. It's wat Guan Hoe uses co i go there for my servicing needs. I dun think running on a higher viscosity oil will give you the probs you describe. Best way to know if yer plugs need to be swapped is to open yer bike up to have a look see. Other than that, its rather difficult to confirm. some tell-tale signs that one or more of yer plugs may be goners: 1) Bike sounds like a scrambler 2) No power, have to rev like mad to move off from stand still 3) Strong smell of unburnt fuel from the exhaust
  17. i did my forks previously at Guan Hoe for 90. last remembered that bikelab charges in the region of 100++ the prices are for servicing both the legs. IMHO, if you can muster up enuff cash, y not take the opportunity to do both legs, Don feel that it's good to have old oil in one leg and fresh one in the other. (unless you have just recently serviced them). hmmm...IS = impedence stabilizer? Cheers, donut
  18. hey, brand new CDIs don come cheap. Last time I asked, KS was selling new units in the range of $300+ to $400. Your best alternative is to source for a second hand one. Tink some of the lads here may have spares. Good luck!
  19. Naz, just something to note. you may wanna hold on to yer K&N filter 1st while you try out the stock airfilter. cos if the prev owner rejetted the carbs to suit the K&N, you may experience plug fouling whilst using the stock one. I experienced this...so switched back to K&N after using the stock filter cos was din wanna go thru the effort to rejet. cheers, donut
  20. If i remember correctly, the PRI indicates PRIME not primary its for occasions when ur carbs are bone dry and you want to get some petrol in quick. when the switch is at ON, the flow of petrol into the carbs is regulated by the vacumn hose while the engine is running. in PRI, petrol will just flow into the carbs irregardless whether ur engine is running or not. Disclaimer: i may be wrong, forgot all abt carbs and stuff after jumping over to FI bikes
  21. tink it jumps to the top cos someone voted in the poll ...anyway...we are...going....
