lighter fluid is supposed to remove stickers & adhesives off most thing without leaving any staining or marking. This even includes books. Just make sure the bike is cold. Another option for removing resins/glues is eucalyptus oil - though, I'm not sure what affect this has on a paint finish.

rust remover

I've seen rust removers in the past do that very thing, but these ones are for coins etc. Usually the bottle says not to use on anionized aluminium (not sure if that's how it's spelt) which I think lots of cars & bikes have. I'm interested too whether it works... anything that beats using steel-wool and elbow grease, which is a pain in the backside.
