The past week was doing my homework and research on which helmet to get. Finally had the time to go helmet hunting today at various locations! Tried mainly Arai, Shoei, AGV helmets and some other

Eventually, I came down to these 3 choices: AGV K3 SV (quoted $230), Shoei Z-7* (quoted $400), and Shoei GT Air Wanderer (quoted $400).

Although I have read reviews multiple websites, I still think it's better to get some feedback in local context. Any kind brothers and sisters out there who are using any one of these helmets care to give your feedback? If possible, focus more on the field of vision, ventilation system (e.g. whether use in hot weather will jialat or not), the noise/sound at different speeds and whether it fogs up.

For now, I am more inclined towards GT Air Wanderer because I personally feel that the forward and side vision is better, as in I am able to see more.

Thanks for your contributions and feedback in advance!

*I am told Shoei Z-7 is being marketed as Shoei RF-1200 in Western countries in case you cannot find any reviews online for the Z-7.

$230 for a agv k3 is a great deal.

But agv k3 wind is directed into my eyes so it irritates me when riding.

It looks good though.

Take a look at the hjc rpha max. Local riders love it

compare with this 3, what i research as below.

K3 SV - cheap but heavy

GT-Air - lighter but expensive

Z7 - lightest but no inner screen

Anyway, where you get the quote? I am looking gt air

I used to use the K3. Sporty lines and look. Cheap and light. But the quality of make is alot different compared to the Shoeis.

Jumped on the shoei bandwagon last month after using my K3 for 2 years. I'll say you can really feel the difference between the AGV and Shoei.

Fogging up wise. I have an aftermarket anti-fog film on my K3 and working well, whereas Shoeis have pinlock.

P.S. I'm using an XR-1100, but I tried the GT-Air and Z-7 too. Nice fitting.

Have you tried going to Chong Aik for quotes instead of Regina?

That day was Hari Raya, so Chong Aik was closed unfortunately. Can you elaborate slightly "quality of make"? Are you saying that Shoei is more comfortable or Shoei is of a higher quality?

Like you, I tried the Z-7 and AGV, I found all to be suitable and comfortable for my head haha.

If you compare the Z-7 and the K3. The Shoei is of higher quality.

I've never get to tried the higher ends AGVs yet, pistas and corsas... but of course they're of a different grade compared to the K3.

And I last heard the K3s were made in China... while Shoeis are all made in Japan....

Of course, budget is another concern lah...

I just bought a solid red GT air 2 days ago from Powerstar (cheong aik's sister shop). $500. Do note that it's got a PSB sticker and it's D-Ring. Original one from japan is clip style but no PSB sticker (insurance will not be claimable)

Was using a shoei qwest helmet for the past 2 and a half years (still a good helmet, just that my pillion helmet got messed up and i wanted an upgrade).

The the field of sight is great, no fogging issues at all (using breath guard) and it's relatively quiet (just a tiny bit louder than my qwest). Vents are pretty ok though i don't ride fast enough to fully test it (by fast enough i mean, above 130km/h). Sun visor is awesome, isn't flimsy.

Then again, my helmet is new, so do take what i said with a pinch of salt. Have quite a handful of friends who are all using GT air too when it first came out. So far no complains.

@vicvic:

I was trying all 3 and comfort wise all almost similar, with GT Air feeling the most comfortable if I had to choose one. So my next concern was field of sight, and GT Air gave me the biggest (horizontally and vertically) field of sight which I prefer! Though I am aware of the different chin strap designs (D-ring and Ratchet clip), thanks nonetheless for your heads up on the D-ring and Ratchet clip design which will be useful for others considering a GT Air.

Everyone who contributed:

Guess I made my decision, guys! Many thanks for your input!
