Hey I'm a fellow NP student; new here and to riding. I'll be going for lesson 5 again after enough self practice. I failed it once. =(

Haven't taken my RTT either though. Any tips? =P

Hey I posted sometime ago! Thank you for the encouragement guys, I passed Lesson 5 and my RTT! Took me awhile because I was overseas for exchange programme and now I'm having attachment. Didn't ride for quite a long time. But whew, I'm glad I finally passed! =D

Lesson 6 this coming Tuesday! How does lesson 6 go? =x

Haha. Thanks dude. =) I hope I'd get to ride to school soon!

What happens at lesson 6? I applied for the PDL, im rather excited. =P

Also, I was wondering, any idea what bike model in the market's small and light weight? I'm a short girl who has trouble reaching the floor when seated on the bike. Haha. Are all the seats on bikes adjustable according to preference?

I hope to have a bike to start saving up for now, so I'm looking around! =)

I'm backk! Have been down with a stomach flu + recovery time. Ended up skipping 2 common test papers cos of it.

My TP's on 30 Jul! Right smack in the middle of my project deadlines, but better now than during attachment.

Yeah, NP has a lot of SPs and KRRs. Lol, no offence, but the sound of an SP/KRR accelerating is like a tiny mosquito speeding off in the distance...

Hahha.. thats when heard from distance..

To me, it sounds like those grass cutters @ work...

Pardon me, which DC are u in?

Cos, different DC, hv diff training subjects.

Since u need a PDL, most probably u'll be riding on road soon, but on the 1st lesson, maybe just around the neighourhood to let u get a feel & used to riding in real traffic situations.

height probelm? so far to what i know, not all bikes hv adjustable rear height mechanism or replacement of seats.

for small light bikes, maybe u can try yamaha fino?

small scoot, light weight & good for normal daily commuting.

recommendable for newbies on the road also.

I'm doing my lessons at Ubi CDC! I wonder how it's going to be like. Lesson's tomorrow night. =)

I recall that I used to have a lot of trouble when I first begun cause I couldn't reach the ground. Then I realised I can get lower seats. Haha, which helped a little. Am adequately used to it now. I hope to get a smaller sports bike, with choice of low seats. Not really looking at scooters!

I see, well i guess if u really into 2B sportsbikes, my guess is u hv to lower the front forks, shave the seats & maybe shorten the rear shock.

All which, already defeated the original ergonomics from the manufacturer.

Cos most 2B sportbikes are deem high(by the manufacturer's way, i mean).

But still, its up to own preferences. :thumb:

FINALLY! Another girl!

Beat, I'm not very tall myself being around 156cm-ish -- curse my short, stubby legs! However, I can tell you that you've got plenty of bikes of pick from. Just don't hope for a stock Vespa or some scramblers.

B_E_N, I might get a bike as a present if I pass on the first try, but it's a surprise. Here's to hoping that it's a CBR150, or a cute lil' scooter so I can get away with shorts every now and then.

I took my first Lesson 6 today. Wow, it's quite a different experience! =/

I forgot to stop at the exit stop line. Nervousness takes a toll on my weak heart. Hahahah.

I hope I'd get more confident. Any tips or tricks? =P

Lessons now are so expensive!

And would anyone happen to know the pre riding check proceedure? I need a little revision. The guy went so fast, I couldn't absorb everything he said. =(

HOW ABOUT B-BONE?

Oh oh. Gosh. The B-bone looks great. Hahaha. I haven't seen any on the road. Do you own one? It's 4stroke! I want a 4stroke bike. =)

well, fino to me, is small & low...

Neway, its a good newbie bike to start off.

Haha. Fino looks good! But, I'm not really looking for a scooter kind. =(

Mm, true. Then again, I haven't decided if i really want a sports bike. =P I saw yamaha RX-Z parked somewhere today. The size seems just nice, and I think that can be fitted with lower seats!

I'll keep contemplating and reading specs till I get one that's closest to my preference. Haha. Keep reccommending! =P I want to visit bike shops to search some time. But I'm not past Lesson 6 yet. I'm excited early. =/

Tips and tricks? From personal experience, NEVER step into a pot hole/drain when stopping at the side of the road.

Best to check with your riding instructors again on pre-ride checks. I don't think it's part of the test requirements, so no worries about the details. Whenever I do a pre-ride check, it's just to make sure that the bike is in working condition and its allowed on the roads (got road tax + insurance). My pre-ride check procedure consists of: (1) Check road tax (?) cert to ensure it's not expired, (2) check that the headlights and signal lights are working, (3) check that the brakes are working, and that both front/rear brakes trigger the rear lights, (4) tyres not punctured, (5) bike can start.

Hahaha, but that's a self-concocted pre-ride check roughly based on what's taught. I might have missed out on stuff.

Erm, I haven't got a bike yet... Waiting for TP at SSDC -- I would have learnt at CDC but I'm more familiar with SSDC, having taken my Class 3 there.

Pre-ride check/inspection:

1) Overview of the outlook of the bike, for any visible defects.

2) Check handlebar alignment. Turn on ignition key, check headlight, signals, rear brake lights; which inturn, also can check the brakes working or not.

3) Depress the clutch to see if there's tension, so as to see if the cable has been worn.

4) Check that it is road riding worthy: Vaild Road tax.

5) Check if there's petrol in tank, sometimes the tank meter may malfunction.

6) If bike chosen, mount on, check 1 gear ½ clutch control, to see if bike's rev has a problem or not.

This shld be all, otherwise, if there's a problem while checking, move on to another bike, if have already chosen one, & problem comes when riding, sound out to the instructors immediately.

When going for lessons, I understands learners are excited & nervous.

Try this:

Go to the lesson with a relax calm mood. So as to train, experience & enjoy the lesson.

If one were to go in a foul mood or the other, it may affect one's training, citing the instructors to pinpoint.

Go with a open mind & hearing ear.

So that one can understand what to do/how to react upon situation. And also pick up the instructor's advices/opinions.

For me, I simply just sit in a "go-&-play" mode when Im taking my 2A.

But a more serious mood when class 2.

:btw: RXZ's seat height's quite high, unless change to shorter aftermarket rear shocks & lower front forks.

2 stroker also. nt to my liking, imo.

hard to find a good one nowadays unless buy new.

Why not TZR then?

eh, not to my liking unless its a 250 version.

but only for the eyes, not straddling it. :D

Wowww. Hahaha, thank you for all the information and advice. Will definately take note and apply. Next lesson 6's next Tuesday!

Mm, I like the size of RXZ, but I dont really want a 2 stroke. The fuel tank part is like a little slimmer too! Any other bikes which are slim like that too? I like that size.

=P
