Want to know where to buy and how do I apply dielectric grease to the spark plug connections? spray into the plug cap then cap over the plug?

Cos today having very heavy rain, after i stop & tried to start the bike, the bike cannot start and like out of petrol. I read in the banditalley forum that dielectric grease can cure this problem. Very funny that suzuki decided to put holes in the plug caps for the 600 & 1200 while the 400 didnt have it. But then we got drain holes under the exhaust to drain off water, maybe the holes are clogged. Dunno want to consider sealing the holes or not since they are there for dunno wat purpose.

I just realised something.

Hi there instead of sealing the hole on the exhaust, why not add rubber caps on the spark plug cap, just like the bandit400, think its about $3 bucks, it will stop the rain from getting to spark plug hole. The hole on the exhast is to drain the rain water because bandit 600 exhaust is facing the sky.

Coincidentally my cyl 2 spark plug foul yesterday when I was going home from work. The idling was erractic, and cyl 2 header is cold, and I manage to ride it home with only 3 cylinder running, by adjusting the idling higher. Glad that my work place is only abt 1.5km.

This morning I check the coil (#2& #3) the value I got was

Primary 3.5ohms (spec 2.5-3.8ohms)

Seconday 0.5Mohms (spec 30-50kohms)

I remove the spark plug cable and check the resistane, one spark plug wire is open and the end is very dirty. I trim off the cable a little, clean the spark plug cap and apply telfon grease (high temp grease and the label says can be applied to batt terminal) Reconnect the cables to the coil and check the resistance again.

Primary 3.5ohms

Secondary 30.5kohms

All within spec, I check the other coil as well and they are all within spec. Notice I got 3 original Bandit400 Denso spark plug cap and 1 BMW spark plug cap (Made in Germany). Kekeke...imagine I got BMW spark plug cap :thumb:

Anyway I replace the fouled NGK spark plug, the ceramic become black like being roasted like that. Strangely when I check with the other good NGK spark plugs they have the same resistance 3.5kohms, but when put back its not firing. I check the reistance of the Denso spark plug which I replace they have a higher resistance of 5.2Kohms, and its the same across the other 3 spare Denso spark plugs I have.

Since V=RxI

In other words am I right to conclude Denso spark plugs have a stronger spark than NGK??

This morning while fixing the spark plug coil, I installed and tested the headlight on/off switch, its working.

Cost less than $5 bucks to do, but deciding where to mount the switch was headache. In the end I mount it on the handle bar close to the left hand signal switch.

The headlight connector has 3 wires, white(low beam), yellow(high beam) and black( ground) I connect the switch to the white wire on the head light connector (low beam) since this wire has been slice by previous owner.

I could have connect it to the yellow wire (bullet connector) 12V incoming for the headlight, (please don't mixed it up with the yellow wire for high beam at the headlight connecotr) but then if TP happen to signal to turn on headlight probably I will garan ga bok dunno which switch to on.

By connecting the switch to the low beam I can flip either switch to turn on the headlight except for the high beam switch will turn on the high beam. :cheeky:

Aiyo! wrong hole......:help:

my previous posting left out some words. I want to seal the plug cap holes, and clear the drain holes under the exhuast manifolds (called that?) or headers. Not the drain hole at the exhaust lah.

Not sure if the shape of the 400 cap same as mine

Nope the plug caps are ok, its only the plug wire connection is bad, just trimmed the end and reconnect now its running fine. The ceramic is the white piece surrounding the electrode, I have kept the fouled spark plug, sat show you how it looks like.

kekeke...hands very itchy nothing to do, so go and fix the headlight switch. Very much wanted to install the suspension too.

Hahaha...ask your GF to join us for the DIY sesssion then.

This sat I'm installing the suspension, Chee Teck is coming to 'see see look look', come join us.

I can show you how to install the headlight on/off switch.

If want to install on that day, just bring along one on/off swtich, some male and female connectors (use for horns) and some wires. All these can be bought at Sim Lim Tower.
