How come Suzuki's coil is cheaper than Honda's?

Today my coil got burnt again. This is the second time. Lucky for me, Slayer is good to me, I get warning. Both incidents I rode to the shop in time, didn't have to tow the bike.

The 1st time, after riding to the shop, the bike couldn't start. Today, after riding to the shop, I knew it could start at least 2 more times before it gives out. True enough, I couldn't start it for the 3rd time after riding to the shop.

I came across an uncle claiming that his bike has no coil problem. 04 model and millage already hit 40,000. Hope my luck same like his. :cheeky: Now my millage is at 11,500 (3 months old).

Do you guys encounter another problem about this bike? Like on rainy days when you stop at the traffic light, there will be smoke coming out from your fairing side and the RPM starts to drop. And idling weakens.

According to a fren, HONDA is made to perform well when engine is hot. So when in cold wheather the engine slacken a bit. Is this true guys?

I don't have this problem.

According to a guy whose name I will not mention, he seems to know engines inside out. Honda builds their engines in a different configuration compared to other manufacturers. (Don't they all differ?)

He drew me diagrams, and spoke of many technical terms which I was not able to grasp, and hence not able to repeat intelligently here.

As you put on the miles on other engines, they will deteriorate in some manner. Honda engines have the opposite effect due to different layout. There was mention of "big bang" engines, as opposed to what I can't remember. I read about the big bang a long time ago.

I'm not saying there will be no usual wear and tear however.

Anyway, treat the above as an urban myth if you will.

The smoke that is coming out of your fairing during rainiy days is probably rain water drying on your radiator. I had it too once I stop at the traffic lights or park my bike. If it still happens on a dry day that means something else is wrong.

Tashi so this is going to be your second coil oredy?

So fast ah? I thought once you change to the second generation coil it should be ok?

Haha, yes, how did you know? He talk c*** to you also?

I can’t remember how much I paid the 1st time round, but I don’t feel like paying this time round.

Some creative guy with a Mac created a sales leaflet using an actual Straits Times article in a related place. Grab that article while you still can. It contains “kung fu” for initiating an offensive tactical plan against a tai-chi master in the same place.

Don’t ask me, I can speak no more.

Dirt, I never had to push start. Ken did push start before.

I got screwed ... royally!

Maybe they gave me 1st gen. Maybe there's no 2nd gen. But what I know its the part # is the same.

Mmm, better cancel. When I was in KL, it was raining everyday as well.

Weak starting is a sign of coil getting burnt. Ride to the bike shop when you can, otherwise have to tow or push start.

Cranking will be weaker during the last 2 days, but the green neutral light looks suspiciously weak while cranking. This can give an advance warning as 2 weeks before the coil dies, it becomes slightly dim.

No extra cranking required, but the cranking is a bit 'lazy'.

Season Greetings to all, Hi tashi sorry to hear about your coil, what battery did you use after your first coil change?

Heard of this blade rider in KL who got his burnt coil refurbished at a car alternator recoiling shop so don't throw away the burnt coil maybe this can be done.

I only know of one shop in Singapore which is in Ubi which recoils car alternators I will check it out and post the outcome anybody know of any other coil refurbishing shops in Singapore?
