will scrutinize it when it arrives, hope it ain't that bad but the sound is just lovely.

how's your new ride compared to the 04? more torque at lower rpm? any mods?

So far, I've dropped in a fitch in my tank & I've some sticker mods that's fantastic in improving the midrange. :cheeky:

How's the ride? Too much to say, but I'd rather not. Hehe.

Would love to hear your GPR. When are you having it fixed? Where did you get it?

One thing you may want to look out for on the GPR. The large ring that goes around the perimeter of the pipe at both ends where the rivet goes through may not be lined up properly, suggesting poor workmanship or lack of QA. Sorry to pour cold water. But I noticed it and thought you should know.

Ken, that pic was taken from heaven!

Being humble doesn't mean you can't enjoy riding a big bike no? Well, if you say god tells you so, maybe it's best for you.

Why don't you go up to KL for F1 this weekend before selling your bike? I'll never know when we'll get to tour again. :faint:

Tweety, when do you want to pick up your stickers?

Is Scarlett going to be the umbrella girl for F1?

Rommel, what are your plans? Fri night can leave? Want to have a hairdo in KL? It's half price compared to S'pore. Ismail may leave on Sat.

Raptor, planning on going up?

yeah.. i must say its kinda poor workmanship...

but wud rather say its kinda bit loose.. small amount of touch and the lining will go out of place...

wen i asked peter( the sales rep ) he says nothing wrong wif the pipe...

hahaha.. btw i still havent sent my bike to LTA for approval.. is it wrong ?

Tweety, no problem. You may want to try Bridgestone BT015. Good tyres!

Wow, first time I ever did this to a bike I owned.

Blew the head gasket on my bike. Took the opportunity to do a top overhaul at Looi's Motor and left my bike there under the capable hands of DR Meng Tong.

Top half of my engine is in pieces. Gonna change my camchain and tensioner, decarbon the cylinder heads, do valve seat grinding and valve clearance check, then fit on a high comp gasket, reprogram the ECU using the HRC software, and dyno the bike.

All this in preparation for the trip to Sepang at the end of the month. Also managed to buy 2 sets of dual compound Michelin Pilot Power Race for $400 a set. This was a promotional offer for those going for the Sepang Track Day on 1st and 2nd April. Hmmmm... medium centre and soft sides, cannot wait to try them out!]

Anyone interested in buying a pair of Racetecs from me.

Half worn on the sides right up to the edge ie no chicken strips, but plenty of centre tread left. Still good for daily commuting purposes. Tyres were on my bike for about a month only. Good opportunity for anyone who want to give Metzeler Racetecs a try.

Selling the pair for $100. Tyres are at Kallang Cycle. They will fit and balance the tyres for you for $30.

Bridgestone Impressive at Final IRTA Test at Jerez

By Dirck J. Edge

The performance of Bridgestone-shod bikes during pre-season testing for the 2006 MotoGP series caught our eye right away, and Bridgestone continued to impress at the final IRTA test at Jerez this weekend -- just two weeks before the Jerez series opener.

What conclusions do you draw when Bridgestone riders take the top three fastest laps, and do so on Ducatis and a Kawasaki -- relegating the Hondas and Yamahas to lower positions? What conclusion do you draw when a MotoGP rookie who has never ridden at Jerez before (Chris Vermeulen) posts a faster lap time than Yamaha's Valentino Rossi, and does so on a Suzuki?

While Ducati, Suzuki and Kawasaki deserve credit for their off-season development of their MotoGP weapons, the common denominator is Bridgestone tires. Bridgestone had the three quickest lap times at the IRTA test at Jerez, and seemed to establish its dominance over the Michelin riders quite easily. Ducati's Loris Capirossi, for instance, rode his Bridgestone-shod machine to a lap time that was more than one second quicker than the quickest Michelin bike (ridden by Honda's Danny Pedrosa).

One day the bike was in pieces and the next day... it is fully assembled and sitting on the dyno machine. Meng Tong works fast man.

Initially I brought the bike to BS, but there was some delay tactics going on. Bike was still untouched the next day... Lucky for me. Told them to cancel the work order and rode my bike to Looi's.

Anyway, dyno test show the bike is now producing 159 HP @ 11,290 RPM and a max torque of 81 ft/lbs @ 9,010 RPM with high comp gasket, velocity stacks, BMC air filters and a Yoshi streetlegal slip on.

Was told that to get more HP a full exhaust system and a PC 3 was needed.

Anyway this is the job breakdown and pricing:

1. Labour charges for top overhaul, valve seat grinding, valve clearance check, piston and cylinder head decarbon, replacement of cam chain and tensioner, reprogramming of ECU with HRC mapping with dyno run - $350.

2. Coolant - $30

3. Valve shims, 12 pieces had to be replaced during valve clearance checks - $60.

4. One set of valve seals (16 total) - $50.

Total cost paid to Meng Tong was $490.

Parts supplied by me (bought from BS)

1. Valve head cover gasket - $48

2. Rubber mounts (4 ea) - $10

3. Cam chain - $77

4. Cam chain tensioner - $69

Total cost after 10% discount plus GST was $194.

Asked him the cost of synchronising the ECU using the HRC program plus dyno test run, Meng Tong said it was about $100.

And ya, I threw out the thermostat on the bike and now it runs cool. But the sweetest thing is... the engine feels like a new, super responsive and smooth.

my bike got the same symtoms as yours. 110 at traffic lights. 100 on xpressways on sunny day. about 90 on xpressway at night. used to get around 80 on xpressways at night.

i already changed coolant, radiator cap & thermostat. still the same eh. dunno whats wrong. left the radiator n water pump haven change... hehehe fan was on around 104.

has been living with these symtoms for the past few months. either my cooling system haywire or my engine running xtra hot. got to check during my next servicing...

anyone knows where to fix alarm for my bike? preferably with tilt sensor. so, anyone trying to straighten the bike when armed, the alarm will triggered.

decided to fix alarm. y? story as below...

yesterday 18-mar around 0200hrs was the last i seen my bike b4 the incident happen. i top up petrol at my bike and already reset the tripmeter(both a n b). at 2000hrs, i go to my bike n realised it was missing. i thought my bikeshop towed my bike at first, but when i think again y do they have to tow my bike if i have not default my payment? after looking around, my bike was found in another parking lot, parking heads in without my bikecover. by the way, i usually park my bike rear in with bikecover.

i found out the below with my bike:

my front license plate was missing.

my front repsol decals were removed to make it not look like my bike

the keyhole may be tampered with. i maybe wrong. i got trouble putting my keys in to start the bike at first. after forcing, twisting n turning, i can get my keys to get in to start the bike.

it looks like an attempt to steal my bike. however i'm not sure if the bike has been ridden or even towed somewhere. mayb the thief just realised my bike was hissed and couldn't get it to start unless he get it towed.

by the way, mine a 2004 cbr1000rr original black/grey paintwork at yishun

if anyone c my bike somewhere between 18-mar 0200hrs to 2000hrs other than at my car park, please give me a call. i will need to update my IO for any info u have given me. thank cute!

the incident have been reported to the police. i'm not going to post any info here what the police has found as i'm afraid the thief maybe reading this forum...

How long has the thermostat been out of your bike??

The symptoms you described are like mine. I kinda think the thermostat should be put back coz it acts like a restrictor when opened so the coolant flow rate through the radiator is controlled which allows more time for the airflow to cool it.

I suspect that without the thermostat, the flow rate is too fast through the radiator so the coolant is not sufficiently cooled before it is pushed back to the engine therefore resulting in a higher than normal running temp that won't go down or up.

Looks like I am going to put back a new thermostat and see how the bike behaves.
