dunno whether ah chong can solve, maybe small problem.. anybody knows workshop that's good with cbr1000rr?

Try Sporting or MT.

I remember someone did something fanciful to the signal lights. Whenever he braked, the fancy lights come on, the ECU gets starved of juice, and the bike starts jerking while the engine stalls.

If the HESD is malfunctioning, the warning light should come on. Probably the screw?

Why don't you try the secret startup sequence and see if you can derive anything out of it?

I think it's something like, shift to 1st gear, full throttle, then turn key to on position. I'm not sure if you need to include a clutch-in in the equation. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

What happens when you do it right is the HESD will get stiff as male chicken for 10 secs with the HESD light blinking.

turns out i got a flat front...

changed a new pair @ looi's as well as ebc brakepads, man they are heavenly :lovestruck:

And here is a recap on how to test your HESD.

Test your HESD!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those of you who think you might be having problems with the Honda Electronic Steering Damper , Honda has provided a quick self-test for comparing minimum and maximum damping, without riding the bike.

Test procedure is as follows..

Raise and support the front of the bike. Move the steering back and forth several times to get a "feel" for minimum damping.

1. Lower the side stand

2. Shift tranny into a gear other than neutral.

3. Open the throttle fully ( WFO ).

4. Turn the ignition switch on while maintaining steps 1-3.

The HESD icon on the LCD display should start blinking ( If not, start over ).

For the next 10 seconds, the ECM will set the HESD to maximum damping ( full-stiff ). Compare this to minimum damping. If there is no change, replace the HESD unit.

NOTE: This test will not work if the Malfunction Indicator Lamp has indicated a problem exists in the PGM-DSFI ( MIL is flashing ).

Also note: Some moto-mags have implied that the HESD provides no damping when it's "off". This is not true! Unless the HESD unit is damaged ( IE-no oil, etc ), it always provides a small amount of damping, even with the key off.

Now you can see just how much damping the HESD provides, check to see if yours is working, or just impress your friends with your knowledge of Honda PGM-DSFI's self diagnostics.

On one of our portuguese mags did a comparo with all the 06´japanese 1000s.

Same day same dyno, same conditions. We will probably see more coming soon but for now this is what the got. Sorry I just have the numbers as I have no scanner.

Honda CBR 1000RR 162,9 Horsepower at 10400rpm - 11,4Kgm torque at 8500rpm

Yamaha YZF-R1 161,1 Horsepower at 12750rpm - 10,8Kgm torque at 10000rpm

Overall they elected the gixxer as the test winner.

As for the quarter mile:

Honda CBR 1000RR 10,1 sec - at 225,9 Km/h

Kawasaki ZX-10R 10 sec - at 231,4 Km/h

Suzuki GSX-R1000 9,6sec - at 231,7 Km/h

Yamaha YZF-R1 10,2sec - at 231,7 Km/h

something happen to my blade while riding just now make me very worried......

just when i am accelerating after a stop , after shifting to 2nd gear and changing to 3rd gear... it happen....i tot i had engage to 3 rd gear at let go my clutch...

to my surprise it turns out to be a " hanging " gear..it was free!!!

i tried to clutch in again and change to a higher gear but it seems i cant engage to any gear.. higher or lower...

so i have to ride my bike in that " hanging " gear to the side of the road...

of my bike and on again...then i shift thru the gears to find my neutral gear and i did...

move off again and this time slowly changing gears.. no problem.. average speed while riding home not more than 70!!

now very worried wat happen... can someone enlighten me?

Hi, i happened to me once before. i guess the problem is that we didn't fully engage the gears properly, only half way engage thus have this hanging effect.

Actually no worries at all, juz make sure u shift up the gear fully every time.

Cheers

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that!"

1 good tip I'd like to share. The next time you wash your bike, clean the joints of the gearshift with a toothbrush and a generous amount of GT85 / WD40.

You'll be guaranteed a very pleasant, sure-footed, light shifting. Overtime, minute particles get stuck in the joints, making gear shifting clunky. Most often we think our engine oil has reached end of life.

If you find this tip helpful, you may buy me a drink next time we go outing. :cheeky:

Had that happened to me twice during the 5 lap race at PG 2 weekends ago. Went into free gear when downshifting for Turn 5 once and then once again before BMW corner. At times like these.... I am thankful I have Brembo master pump and EBC HH brake pads on my front brakes... saved me from going into the gravel pit.

Suspect the free gearing espisode came about when the cylinder head gasket blew during the race. allowing combustion gases to enter the coolant system and causing the engine to overheat.

When the engine started to overheat, the engine oil must have thinned out and gear shifting was stiffer.

Lesson learnt: You can have PC3, full exhaust system, velocity stacks, high comp gaskets, pistons, high lift cams, 170 HP..... it all ain't worth a sh*t when you cannot stop it because your tyres and brakes are still stock stuff.

Brakes and tyres............ the 2 most important things your very life depends on. On or off the track.

Just the master brake pump... no need the calipers and all that.

The stock brake calipers are good enough, just need a bigger master pump to provide more brake pressure to the calipers. Brake pump is about $440, pressure switch for brake light is about$40. EBC HH brake pads about $100 per set.

No need for Brembo clutch master pump...waste your money, unless you have fitted heavy duty clutch springs. No point of heavy duty clutch springs unless you find during hard acceleration out of corners your clutch is slipping and not transmitting the power to the back wheel.

But then if you got plenty of money to throw.... .........

Thanks Raptor! Worth considering for that price, got the EBC pads already.. can really feel the diff. However my budget now don't allow me to get the brembo anytime soon, blew $1200 on coil, batt, rectifier, tyres & ebc pads within a week...

My next project is paintwork, have been delaying for quite some time and the thought of no transport makes it worse... Since my GPR slip on is arriving soon was considering the Konica Minolta replica but hey, jsut found out GPR is sponsoring Honda LCR Team this year.. so maybe this? Kind of plain though.. Guys any comments?

Last Friday, I was on my way up to KL alone. I met this nice R1 rider, so we rode up together. Great company. He’s British I think. Another long weekend is fast approaching on April 14. Anybody interested in going to Fraser’s Hill? I know Thailand is too far for most sportbike riders … except for the adventurous few.

I have to leave for Putrajaya on April 14 morning to collect some stuffs.

Din / Beagle, how about it? Should have come, should have gone, blah blah blah, but cannot go?

Rommel, would your audit be over by then?
