Take your high speed antics to the track where the environment is controlled.

Not do the stunts on the public roads where alot of factors like road conditions and unpredictable behaviour of other road user antics are beyond your control.

Take your ego to the track and leave it there.

To date... I know of three riders who have died on the 2nd link doing high speed antics and a few others who lost control of their bikes at high speeds due to the road condition but were lucky enough to live to tell.

How many more must die needlessly on the roads before the message gets through?

Prior to my track days.. I used to like to blast aka clear carbon aka let go steam aka clear meter on the roads. Ignorance was bliss then.

After I started going tracks... I realised what my own personal limits and ability to handle the bike at speeds are. It is on the tracks that I realise the importance of a good suspension set up, good tyres and brakes, coz you do not want to find out how badly you need them when you need to slow down fast. Like someone said, power is nothing without control.

It was on the tracks that I realised how difficult it is to slow the bike down from 270 KMH and how easily control can be lost should you hit the brakes at that speed.

It is an awakening for me. I ride within the speed limits in Singapore and don't go fast on the NSH (max of 140 KMH). I am a chicken on the streets, I will not react at all to instigations to race or invitations to test pickup by other bikes. It is not worth my effort and time.

It don't take skill or guts to ride fast on a public roads, just a very big ego.

I wonder how the jacket, boots, gloves all came off. Looks like a Dainese jacket.

The question is, did the gixxer break before or after crashing? I realise their frame, swingarm is very thin, to save weight.

Sepang trip is coming, ride safe. Should post more of these pix.

Posted

No idea really

I agree that the gixxer's frame is thin and the welding is of poor workmanship

The e-mail didn't state much details it doesn't state where it happened

Base on the road sign on the pic below, I don't think it's Malaysia even

Ride safe everyone :thumb:

I know I do, cos to me once it's considered a bike tour will wear necescary gears

Of course if just going makan at GP will wear simpler gears e.g shoes, jackets, gloves.

I always ride to KL in my waterproof Timberland.

Anybody going for SBBF? Maybe we should take this opportunity and have a local outing? Eldo, you should sign up for the Biker Babe contest. You looked sexy in that female Dainese jacket. We will all go and support you. :cheer: Come to think of it, collectively we're quite a huge 1000RR group.

Ya, I always worn boots when I ride my bike together with a mesh jacket, it is very hot but felt very assured when you worn them.

Track riding sounds very exciting, will try when I finish my studies. Really difficult to control not to speed when riding CBR on the road, CBR too composed to feel fast even though the meter is showing otherwise.

Got good news that I would be able to get my bike back before the Motogp trip. Ya definately should go for the SBBF event, just saw it in the Motor Culture Asia magazine today at times bookshop. Just visit the website which is quite interesting and looks very well-organized.

Exciting event on the cards after the great Motogp trip. Two great weekend in a row. Wow
