duo_maxwell: Thanks for the advice man. Anyway, this piston is a single-ring piston....about 3000+ km old now. I had it serviced on Monday and collected it on Friday. What I did:

- Change clutch plates, $234 inclusive of workmanship. Ah seng said that they couldn't get the gaskets for the gearbox cause it's been out of stock for years lol. So had to use the old one back.. =/

- Top servicing, $150

- Change all fairing bolts and some other ones as well cause a lot of them were rusty, plus drilled 2 holes in my tailseat so that it can be screwed down to main frame and won't shake about, $25

- Wash exhaust plus change packing by Ah Onn..$60.

Oddly enough, my exhaust is STILL leaking 2t.

Block and piston are not changed so don't worry about it being ridden hard heh. As far as I understand, the main parts, with regards to my internal components, which have been changed/adjusted would be the gearbox, engine and carb.

Anyway, will be going down to FM tomorrow....need to collect my licence from TP anyway so will drop by at about 12pm or so. Anyone wanna join?

BTW duo_maxwell, did you use to play Quake 3? And you were pretty good at it? :bounce:

u r welcome.. just hope can help u understand more.. . hmmm.. ur exhaust still leaking 2t maybe because the 2t setting on the carb is too big le bah... that's why got lots of unburnt 2t

but u got say ur block got scratches and didn't change to a new 1??? if ur block got scratches, there is a possiblilty that compression ratio for the bike will not be up to standard thus lack of power because of the small gap caused by the scratches in the block. the condition of the piston and block will influence the power of the bike by alot. so i guess maybe the mechanic set the 2T higher to prevent it from getting further damage thus u still see ur exhaust leaking 2T. that's what i feel.. :cheeky:

:cheeky: nope.. i don't play Quake 3, maybe that person got the same nick as me bah...

Your jet settings' too rich...dats why its leaking 2T. Could try to adjust the 2T valve below the 2T tank.

Used to rite a Mito years ago...my first bike. Dat time the Mito was stocked with original carbon fibre pipe so no worrys with Men in White. Also that time, Mitos were equipt with 7 gears... Hit 175 km/h on a straight road without any probs. Arm it with Pirelli dragon tyres and cut corners like Biagio.

Btw...last time the place where you can get Mitos reliably fixed was @ Excel motors but beware the boss.... like to overcharge one. Loved to set my carb settings rich so when you pass by a bloody rude car driver....juz whack the throttle and see his windscreen covered in carbon ash!..lol.

So how's the the Mito nowadays? Still an Aprilia killer?

apparently aprilias and mitos are now friends whom occassionally go par tor. the next date is 16 march i think...so they dun eat each other!

yr 7 spd mito go to 175km/h? i tot they could go up to 200km/h(heard...rumours)....coz mine is 6 spd with restricted pipe n i can easily hit 175(max) too...

i used stock parts when i had the bike....dun forget ;) Aprilias and Mitos always had fun teasing each other along the expressways last time too... become allies when NSR and TZM were in production

Reaching 200 km/h (rumours....most probably) can be reached with sproket mods and overbore...a 125cc engine couldn't possibly handle the load! Had a Mito friend in KL who said a shop there can tweak your MIto to be on par with an RS 250 in pick up & speed!

Also, not sure if you Mito riders know about this.... your rear seat can be unlocked "quite easily" using any Mito keys. So please change your rear seat lock. i remember losing mine and had to pay bout a hundred and fifty bucks for a new one!

Actually, I was at FM today. Ah Seng told me that he already adjusted my 2t settings, then asked me what 2t i was using. Then when I told him it was Unil-opal, he said that my 2t probably had too much carbon.   Shouldn't the carbon come only after combustion? Or maybe that was what he meant anyway... Then of course, recommended me to try Rockoil. I think I'll stick go back to Motul and will try out Rockoil.

Anyway, he told me today that previously my gasket was very thin, which resulted in the high power, but would decrease its reliability. Now he's tuned it for me so that my power is spread somewhat evenly between the revs. Also, he put in a thicker gasket which is supposedly better for engine life. And the scratches in my block are very minor. Apparently they can be polished out and Ah Seng said that it's a minor thing but I won't need to bother about it for now. Jincon also mentioned that he was there when they were testing the compression rating in my engine...it was something like 140 while his, which is a brand new engine is 125.

Oh well, if that's the case then I don't mind the decrease in power...Hope to bring it to track one day still =D

PS: MUST MEET UPPPPPP!!!!! :cheer: :bounce:

wads with washing bikes? seems normal to me ma...wads so disturbing tht yr nighbours need to complain....they dun wash their car meh? weird...

well...fr wad my friend told me...if i were going to change one..(either end can or stomach.) ..........changing the end can would make more of a power gain..it's kinda like have a big bottle(stomach) but with a small opening(end can)....compared to a small bottle with a large opening...u'll be able to drink more in a stipulated time fr the latter....

of coz then again a big bottle with a big opening would be the best!

i'm thinking of changing the exhaust system(inclu manifold) i might go down to bikenscooter to check the full system out..

u guys noe anything abt the rumoured legal arrow pipe? heard it's 650 . ouch ! :faint:

lostjackal : wad u riding now? the new mito i think has less torque(supposingly has onli 15bhp compared to 30bhp of the old one) ...if i fetch pillion...my max top spd is onli 145km/h ...no more ! very disappointing!...but w/o pillion is 175km/h.......... 30km/h diff!...seriously lacking some torque .....

Posted

read online that the only diff between the new mitos and the old mitos are that the old ones have larger air intakes, larger stomach opening and larger carb jets...

they actually have the de-restriction kits for the new mitos in UK... its GBP85 to ship the air intakes and jets to SG... still have to change the stomach ourselves... lol...

alot of the UK ppl actually get the old old mito stomachs... the MK series ones... cos its shorter... and has a different sound...

mines the shorter one... i suspect it could be a MK mito's stomach...

not sure if anything was done to my carb or intake yet though... lol...
