Depends on how the bike's tuned. Anywhere between 18km/l to 30km/l.

wow...Ultimax! Really can go 30km/L ah??

old prob i had but it bothered me again recently.

my skipper is ok traveliing at 70-80km/hr.

90 is the max it can go.

but sometimes if i throttle it right to the end, it tends to "die" just like ur bike ran out of petrol. then i have to release the throttle and throttle gemtly say like go at 70km/hr then it'll be normal again.

anybody wanna guess wat's the prob?

is it a jetting prob or a throttle cable prob or something else?

i think u might be running a bit too rich for the main jet or the needle position.

check the sparkplug.

if the spark plug colour looks ok ( i hope u know how to READ the plug).

then try checking the fuel line and see if it's choke or leaking.

the best time to check is when the scoot suddenly DIED while u r riding full bore. cut the engine and stop to the side of the road immediately ( do not trottle the bike anymore ) .have a cig and wait for the plug to cool down before u check it .

gd luck:smile:

Hey scootlacer, wat if you have trouble starting your bike? Is it the start plug fault too? :cheeky:

hey scooterlacer,

the last time my sparkplug was whitish, shd be lean cos i get abt 150km for abt 5.85 litres? so thats abt 25km/l ?

also, when i drop my speed from 80 to 70, i hear loud rattling sound macham when u pedal a bike but the bike is moving faster than u can pedal.... it means that i need to change my rollers?

i havent changed the rollers but i changed the belt since i got it in jan....

how much will rollers cost? i think i saw something abt heavy rollers and lighter rollers somewhere but i forgot where i saw it liao....

advise? sigh... my skippy having a bit of prob ah?

a average milage between 25 to 28 km/l is quite normal.

it depend alot on the rider riding stye and the scoot load.

running lean or rich does not really effect much on the milage.

if u r running lean then it mean u might not have enough fuel or u r having too much air. there is one more issue u should look into . THE auto choke could be the cowlprick if it's faulty, u will never be able to tune ur ride properly. ( air and feul mixture too inconsistent) i think it's best u get a mech to look at the carb for any serious wear tear.

regarding the rattling sound . if it's not very loud it should be normal, unless u r losing top end speed. then it could be the rollers or the u -clip wearing off.

the lighter the roller ,the faster ur engine can reeve = faster pick up. but if u over do it u will suffer a little on the top end and ur milage will suffer too " higher reeve = more fuel consumtion.

u will need to experiment to find out.

there could be many issue when u have difficulty starting .

if u go to a mech they will most likely put the blame on the battery.

but u should check other parts as well. like ur auto choke, is ur scoot tune properly? u don't always need to change the spark plug. it takes almost for ever for it to wear out.

i'm in no position to give a full analysis on ur scoot problem cause i'm not the one who tune ur scoot.

go look for a reliable mech to check better.

the most important thing u must remember is that u must make the mech explain why he is changing certain parts, if u don't buy his idea. then go else where to get a second opinion. mech r human too= they make mistake too. so don't expect them to give perfect solution to ur scoot. best is if u go to those shop that does alot of auto scoot.

good luck.:cheeky:

the battery and auto choke do not give any signs or warning if it break down. so don't be supprise !!

if ur carb was running well before u went for washing. then the problem is easier to solve.

it's either the mech did not tune the carb properly , or there might be some problem with the auto choke . get someone to tune the carb again and see if the needle setting was the same as before .

my carb was washed, still the same. except now my plus doesnt become black and unusable within 2 weeks. now my plug is whitish.

so just check jetting and auto choke?

anyway, the next time i'm going down, i'm gonna get my swingarm bushing done and replace my rollers and clip. What does the clip do??

anyone got any reccommendations for rollers and clips? i heard of ppl using Malossi Kevlar belts. think i i might use that too. can someone reccommend some "trick" parts that i can buy, and where to get em? how much too?

i think i wanna try to make my topend better and less pickup so that i can save on fuel heheh so i guess that means i prob need heavy rollers and a kevlar belt?

if ur scoot is stock.

then in the first place u should not need to do any jetting mah !!

when mech wash the carb , they will usually dismantle most of the part to clean.

so i think u should just get it tune up can liao lah .but if it's the auto choke that's faulty then no amount of tunning can solve the problem liao. unless u change a new auto choke or a manual ones.

btw where did u service ur carb ?? wonderfull ??

if u r concern abt the milage then u should not fiddle with the stock setting.

increasing the roller weight will not improve the top end. it will only slow down ur pick up and stress ur engine.

the u-clip asist the variater to slide open or close when u reeve ur engine , so over time it'll wear off and the variator will start to rattle if u don't replace it.

Okay.. some answer for ur question..

I recommend the motortiam which is situated juz behind the Paya Lebar Post Office. U can get the add from the skipper topic..

Wat i normally do is to get the stuff from auto machinery located off mustafa centre... Then go down there to get the mechanic (Hendra) to install for me... Mayb becos i regular liaoz, so i can get cheaper workmanship.. Mayb if u quote my name(Daniel who is riding the blue skipper) can get cheaper price or prices which is not considered as chopping some vegetables...

Brought some of our SBF scooterer to service their bike there... The Mech is used to be from Piaggio.. So he know all abt scooter...

I only service my bike if i feel tat something is wrong, if not, juz regular topping up of 2T n Petrol is sufficient liaoz.... Dun need to go service twice every month.... Bery siong on the wallet...

Cheers

i also happen to find this mechanic by chance. so far he has been alright, although he still cant really solve my problem of squeky brakes, even with new pads prob still there.

so i just get my stock rollers and clip from Tong Aik or Automech? which is better?

anyone here using the kevlar belt(malossi?)?

to be able to dismantled and assembled parts doesn't make one a good mech even if he used to work in piaggio.

if he was that good then ur problems should had been solved by now.

auto scooter is not really that easy to tune as many think so.

actually the best person that can tune it properly is the rider himself.

because only he knows his own riding style .

i got nothing against ur mech, so please don't start flaming away. i'm just suggesting u try getting another mech to have a second opinion .

and u r right abt the servicing part. u don't need to go servicing every 2months. u should gauge by the milage for servicing.::

cheers

haha, no worries sccoter lacer,

well i always think that the best mechanic dont exist - becos the best mechanics are ourselves cos only we would do the best jobs possible for our babies! but sadly most of us aint mechanics or just dun have enough technical knowledge to DIY.

U kinda sound experienced.... maybe i could learn a few tricks from u eh ;)

thanks for helping with my queries : )

hmm are u in a way reccommending wonderful?
