hey guys,

got a worrying problem with my bike; symptoms as follows:

1) for the past few weeks, every time i rev past 7k rpm, the FI light will turn on... so i didn't do that till today. previously, i'll just stop my bike by the shoulder, turn on and off then no problem

2) was in the need for speed mood today, so rev past 7k rpm and the light came on again, did the same thing; stop by the roadside, turn on and off

3) this time got problem

- i turn on the bike only got tickticktick sound coming from underneath the engine

- the FI light is on and did not go off

- only manage to ride in 2nd gear max, i believe this is some kind of safety mechanism

i very worried now... alot of family problems ($$$), road tax/inspection coming up in 2 wks and now my trusty steed do this to me sigh... good things never comes consecutively, bad things happen in series.

anyway, do you guys have any idea what is wrong and roughly how much it will cost?

thanks in advance... will be checking back...

Servo Motor spoilt.

Just enquire stock availability from boon siew and get it replaced. Damage would be S$500. May get it done cheaper else where but, well, it's ur money.. :)

hi guys, i just learnt from a soccer buddy that you can run diagnostics by putting the sidestand down after stopping and getting in neutral.

so here's the code that popped out: 3 long blinks and 5 short blinks.

can someone check their cbr manuals and perhaps give me a description of the exact code?

i know im riding a 929 and perhaps it'll be different, but just in case the 929 fellas dont reply, i can get some sort of reference.

uncle vtec, how come you so sure? confirm is servo motor?

3 long blinks, 5 short blinks mean code 35 - Faulty EGCV and air intake servo motor.

is possible to repair it if u hav several spoil servo motor..

use the workable parts of the spare servo motor to rebuild a new one out...

the common damage parts are spoil plastic gears or the circuit board fry..

let u noe that cbr1000 servo motor can be use in 929 even thou the colour code of the wire are diff.. is juz plug and play type..

at the time being, u can dismantle the cables that pull the flip to let u hav a smooth ride.. but will not stop the fi light being lighted all the time..

:)

tat means if i see my FI light ON, then stop 1 side put down side stand while in neutral gear w/o turning off ignition, then will see the blink?? or when restart the engine the blink code will come out?

coz if i off ignition then when restart the light will not be ON liao(tis is seen w/o the sidestand down)..

yes. the servo is still intact but you won't be using it at all. just turn to a position where you don't get the FI to come on. And also need to do the flapper mod too if servo is spoil

:D

I doubt it can be repaired. 2nd hand? most ppl wouldn't change this module unless it's gone bonkers I believe.

As much as I want to help, I'm unable to send it to u via mail. It's 55mb. like most other 929 riders here suggested, u may disengage the syst so that it will not haunt u further without changing the module. however, do note that most likely your valve is stuck at some position, so ur bike will be running at this 'stuck' position of the valve after u disengage the module.

hmm.. having said above, it is still better to change the module. :)
