Currypuff,

So sorry to read about your plight, and your friend's RT. Must be heart ache. Those fairing cost upwards of $2k to repair. I was worried about what happened to you and the bike after your initial posting, but what you been through seems very serious. Might be better to just tow it back to Singapore.

Hope it didn't put you off riding the beemer.

Hey, no worries. Like I said, no one could have foreseen this. Yeah, I'm sure BM parts cost serious money. Still thinking how to repay my riding buddy's kindness. Do you think a packet of nasi lemak will do? Heh heh...

Actually, I didn't even know him very well before this, yet he helped me all the way. He was even late for an important project because of me. All the other members, which I wasn't close to, also helped by coming forward with money when they learned of my plight. Seriously, I can't think of a club that will take better care of its members than Storm-riders.

I heard a member once towed his bike back to S'pore from Malaysia. Cost: RM1300 !!! Any breakdowns over there, be prepared to PAP(pay and pay).

Yap, definitely learned my lesson. Will give the bike a thorough checkup before another trip. Don't want to go through this ever again.

Actually, a shop checked through my bike, but it obviously didn't think about the electrics, which I heard is a BMW bugbear.

I didn't know they had free towing service in PML Malaysia. But anyway I was happy with the service of this shop. The owner and his buddies all ride GS, and have toured all over China, so they must know the machine inside out. This was clear when, instead of just changing the whole sensor, they diagnosed that only the wiring was giving problems, and changed only that, thereby saving me over a thousand ringit.

On another matter, CQL has finally got his Harley! So when are you guys meeting up to view it?

Posted

Great account, Puff, thanks for sharing the info. The hall sensor is well known for breaking down, to the point that some people even carry a spare one with them.

Muz take the name of the shop from ya at the meet up, a good contact to have. Where to meet up? Railway station? After work on Wednesday? say 7 pm?

Cheers

... what you looking at? Never seen a cow that wants to go places ????! ...

Yeah, that's what I intend to do too- carry a spare. Well, cql is the star with his new Harley, so I guess he should decide the date of meet up. But I only have time on Mon or Fri, or weekends.

Just looking at my manuals....

General and ABS warning lights alternate flashing means "Fluid level in BMW Intergral ABS low" for my R1150R

Tyre pressures:

Solo F31.3 psi R35.5psi

2 up F35.5psi R38.4psi

2 up+luggage F35.5psi R41.2psi But be careful, I am using Metzler Z6 and limit when cold is 42psi

Posted

Tire pressurefor R1100R as stated in the manual is 31.9psi (front) & 36.3psi (rear) when solo.

Tried to set the pressure at Shell but found that I couldn't dial in fractions. Increments are in units of 1 only. So I simply set pressure to 32 & 37psi. Anyone do things differently?

Pretty quiet. Nobody seems willing to set a time for meet so let me suggest this Fri or next Tue at 7:00pm. Coolcat, you game for it?

BTW, the shop I went to is located in Sg. Buloh, Selangor. Name is WELLY WORLD CYCLE SDN BHD. Will show you the namecard when I see you.

I Am Roy, I have the BMW owner's manual for R1100R. If you still need it, I can lend it to you to photocopy.

This Beemer is my 3rd bike bought from a private owner and the 1st with the owner's manual (thanks, CQL). Seems most Singaporeans junk the manual when they buy a new bike, or that they love their bike so much they keep the manual & refuse to give to new owner when they sell the bike.

Looks like the site was down yesterday. OK, let's confirm the meetup tomorrow since 3 or 4 of us can make it.

Tentatively, Railway Station at about 7pm BUT....

is there shelter there? Lousy weather recently. Any other suggestion?

Subject to weather? I'll be there regardless, only if it rain I'll be driving there.

Actually, I went down but reached there pretty late as the rain was incredible. I was soaking wet, the place was dark, no tables or chairs outside (obviously), and no BMWs in sight.

At least it proved 2 of my theories right:

1) Bikes won't overheat if you ride them in driving rain at night,

2) Most Beemer riders are saner than me!

Anyway, really nice roads there.

Hi Guys,

Sorry that I didn't really turn up cause I didn't manage to get online. I guess we will need to arrange another meetup in the near future after chinese new year. Currently its finance year end closing and therefore I guess everyone will be busy thus after chinese new year will be a good one.

Hey Guys

I saw one other R1100R in my area (Jurong West Ext.) at around 8:15pm last night. If u happen to be reading the forum here..... Cheers! :thumb: Nice bike u have there.... I was the one in front at the junction.

Didn't manage to catch much details on your bike.... since u were travelling fast with your guy pillion (ok la... i was slower.. haha) and filtered off left at the Pioneer Mall junction.

If u happen to stay in the area, pls do feel free to give me a call. Sure like to know more about your bike. I simply like the looks of it!

Cheers!

Hiya, good to see another Roadster rider. Somehow most of the Roadster riders tend to be shy. How's your ride? first roadster?

Cheers
