but i checked it is NOT possible to transfer just the plate alone. must transfer the bike and then retain the plate with the new owner and transfer the bike with the assigned plate back to the seller of the plate.

ok that means i have answered you correctly. let me try explain in more details.

1. tranfer the bike to your name

2. do a retention and inform lta you intend to retain plate but yr new bike have come yet. lta will ask you to pay 1300. u pay lta $

3. lta issue new plate fbcxxx to bike.

4. u transfer bike with fbc plate back to seller. now seller out of e picture.

5. you buy new bike but must inform motor tiam you have no. plate put on the new bike.

6. after registration with the no. plate. lta refund $1200 to u. end of story:goodluck:

note: 1 to 6: involved extra $$$ in terms transfer fee and insurance or even lay up. best is to ask your regular motor tiam to run the paper work for u!

anyway, i miss wildcard.

I don't think you can. One way is to have gentleman agreement that you will in the future register a new bike under his name, then he transfer back to you. But then again number of owners will be +1 more unfortunately.

Bro - i think you have misunderstood his quetion, the plate he is interested in is currently under plate retention and not on any bike now so point 1 above cannot do.
