I need opinions from other ST200 owners.

I'm thinking of changing my mirrors and windshield to the smaller ones. But I keep thinking will be harder to see and smaller windshield meaning more likely to get "hit" by wind?

Are there really more cons than pros to changing them?

Please advise ... :p

Hi esdee, yeah, i see many ppl with compact mirrors and windshields. The mirrors are probably more of a preference & riding style i guess. Some ppl do fine with the tiny mirrors and i think the originals are just right. Personally i would keep the originals as i'm pretty comfortable with them and i can see with ease. I don't think the small ones will give you any serious problems as long as you can see with ease. :)

as for the windshield, i don't find that the big ones make a world of difference because its usually the crosswinds that bothers me if there's ever strong wind. I've had a ride on my friend's bike with the windshield removed and it feels like there is more drag but it's bearable.

good day!!! and greetings from the philippines. i would like to get your advice on some stuffs on my 2 month old gilera st200. i have bought a malossi multivar 2000, malossi delta clutch, malossi bell, malossi belt and a leo vince 4road pipe.

here are my questions:

- the multivar has 2sets of rollers with it. 14 and 15 grams. which of the two should i use? or i should i get other rollers because the stock is only 10.5 grams

- the cap of my coolant is so tight i cant open it. what do you guys do about this?

- do you know a person selling tank cap cover so that i could prevent water from going inside my gasoline tank.

- do you think i can gain speed and torque by buying malossi secondary gear and cdi?

thank you all and have a safe ride there in singapore!

Thankies Serpentine. Guess I'll put changing them on hold. Might get the helmet lock from Tai Hin but gotta see how it looks like first before I make a decision.

both is good, lower the weight of the rollers when u think u dun haf the pick up u want. but better pick up means lower top end.

- the cap of my coolant is so tight i cant open it. what do you guys do about this?

can try those filter opener(with belt kinda thing)

- do you know a person selling tank cap cover so that i could prevent water from going inside my gasoline tank.

personally i haf no issue with water so far.. 3 years already. maybe u can contact singapore shop, maybe they can ship it to u.. that i can't confirm.

u gain speed and torque with big bore. nothing beats displacement. but gear do let u reach higher speed but in longer stretch and cdi , they rev ur engine higher..

thank you all and have a safe ride there in singapore!

answer ur question after ur q... haf a nice day or night..

i agree with serpentine in regards to the mirrors. stock mirror let u see behind like no other side mirror.. tried diff 1s but came back to stock. abt the windshield, not using any, din feel much diff since not using bike for touring or going at breakneck speed. its still ur preferance. haf a safe ride.

hey guys, whats e diffrence in using stock air filter n aftermarket ones...and which aftermarket airfilter is good? mind helping me out..thks.

Hi littlemunkey,

Just to share something with you & maybe the others can input as well. Went down to FS earlier & out of curiousity asked the mech on the aftermarket, open pod filter or watever they called it, & was rather surprised when told that carburetor needs some kind of settings if change to what he recommended me a "Pollini" brand if I could remember & the filter only cost like, $40, but the settings will set you back close to $150!!!

Any comments? 'Coz from what I know, only upon changing of exhaust-system then carburetor settings' required.

Thanks peeps.

when changing to aftermarket airfilter, u definately need to upsize ur jettings. since there'll be more air intake to the carb, not upsizing will make ur engine run lean. for exhaust , u juz need to tune the a/f ratio a bit, but upsizing there's not really a need.

aftermarket = better response and louder engine sound. but the bad side(depend how big u upsize) petrol consumption will be more.

K&N, Hurricane, malossi and pollini are the readily available, there's still some others that might fit but i'm not really familiar with.

How come setting of carb can cost up to $150??? your mech wanna do precise race setting is it???

Tuning or setting of carb is always recommended if there is a change, from your air / fuel intake all the way to your ehxaust system.

1999 - 2001: GasGas 2001 - 2002: Super4

2002 - 2005: Wave 2004 - 2006: Fazer1000 (Stolen on 1/4/2006)

2007 - 2008: X-1 2006 - 2009: HayaBusa Gen1

2009 - 2011: Gilera 2010 - 2013: Hayabusa Gen 2

2012 - 2013: FZ16

2010 - 2013: Ducati S-Fighter

For the benefit to those who are looking for runner, i went around to survey and the cheapest i found was $6800 OTR excluding IU and insurance. IU around $150 and insurance depends on your age.

That's cheap,man! Damn!

'Coz the last trip I made to Upper Changi Rd's outlet jz last April, ASP offering 8.3k otr w/o asking ur age & all.

Hmmm...??? Should have consider getting a new one instead back then..Damn!!

Euro dollar have dropped by alot, i was wondering why some bike shops are still selling gilera at sky high prices. So its always best to shop around first before committing.

Hi everyone, i'd like to ask if any of you have difficulty starting the bike. I need to slightly twist the throttle while pressing the start up button every time i start the bike. I can't ever start the bike with just the button alone. Is it the same for everyone? :dot:

Ahh.. i found another thread discussing the same problem. I guess it's the same for most of us, apart from those who have changed their pipes and air filter. Not a big problem i guess, just that sometimes the engine stalls as i leave the car park and that can be a little dangerous in morning traffic.
