my lap top is running on VISTA.. recently i am upgraded my itunes to 8.0.0.35 version.

the problem is that i can't seem to edit all my songs. The titles, albums, genres, everything...

normally i would just select and click on the song which i want to edit or select the song/ right click/get info/info and edit.. but both ways don't work.. can't edit at all.

Get info window do pop up but i cant edit the song on the info window.

i am running the Vista as an administrator and have all read.write, edit etc etc permissions.

i need to edit my songs because it's all in a mess..

Anyone can help?

Thx

When you "get info" each song, are the artist, album, (etc...) textboxes grayed out?

Also, are the songs pointed to the correct places -- as in, do they exist in the folder path they are in?

yes, all greyed out..

i have no problem playing the songs that i can't edit... so i presume the path is correct..

another thing that i noticed is that some songs that i have managed to edit sometime back are also grayed out..

Something came into my mind -- your music files may be unable to be "modified" for some reason.

Try these steps one at a time:

[1] In Vista, when you go Start >> All Programs >> "iTunes",

place your mouse cursor over "iTunes" and right click it. Then select "Run as Administrator"

[2] If this doesn't work, go directly to where your mp3 files are stored on your hard drive. Right click one of them and select Properties. Is the "Read-only" checkbox filled with a tick mark?

[2] the "Read-only" check box is not checked

Try this: Browse over to the "C:\program files\itunes" folder. When you see the iTunes icon, right click and select "Run as administrator"

By the way, is User Account Control (UAC) turned on? Just asking.

To check, go to "Control Panel" >> User Accounts >> User Accounts (again) >> Turn UAC on or off.

If all else fails, I think you have to delete everything in your iTunes library. Highlight everything and press [Del]. Then drag your songs into your library again and have a second go at editing your MP3 title tags.
