New to riding and what is needed. Help pls

Hey guys. Just got my first bike an SP but still quite clueless on where to get stuff of reasonable quality and affordable price as well as what else i may need.

 

I know i need to buy:

 

2T oil

coolant

cloth

shampoo

anti-rust

wax/polisher

canvas

 

where would be the best place to get these stuff? I live in tampines. And if there is other things which are a necessity feel free to let me know. Still very new to owning a bike. Exciting and scary

Thx alot louisyhw. Rough price how much the canvas +2T will cost? LAB only cash payment right? Public holiday he open anot? if not tue i'll go down.

Bro dun worry LAB price already quite low. You wanna 10cent and 20cent discount there i think no need la... You steady abit with him tok to him more he will auto give you more discount when time comes you knw him more.

 

You can get helmets, 2T, canvas, gloves, tires change, chain lube and almost anything there at LAB.

 

As for shampoos and washing items you can take a look at Mustafa just across the road level 4. There is a wide range of shampoo items and some motoring stuff there.

2T oil i usually buy at Esso station (Mobil Extra 2T). Now price increase to $12.50

Coolant if you want just go bike shop and flush your coolant and put new one. I would recommend Unique Motors at Eunos

And don't forget you need either chain lube or chain wax to maintain your chain

Some other things to consider:

 

Fuel card (Esso Smiles, Shell Card etc) - Apply at the fuel station next time you top up.

Know your tire pressure and pump your tires every time you top up (it depends, but I inspect my tires and check the air pressure every time I top up).

GT85 for rust proofing and general cleaning (can be bought at Mustafa and other bike shops)

Get the road tax disc and parking disc for displaying those two items on your bike.( can get at LAB). However, those two aren't strictly necessary to be hung at your bike if you intend to carry the road tax around in a keychain and as for the parking disc, if you only park at your own carpark, the warden will just scan your bike no to verify that you have paid season parking there.

Helmet, Helmet, Helmet.

Can't believe you left out the importance of having a helmet!

 

And gloves.

If you don't mind getting blue hands on rainy days, can get at 219 shop.

$20, quite good, only bad thing is the colour runs if your hands get wet.

 

And earplugs.

To prevent hearing loss.

Most hardwear shop.

 

Sunglasses, if you have to ride East every morning.

 

I saw a cheap 2T oil selling at SPC $7.50.

That's the cheapest I can find, but don't know if it is good, only used it once for my pocket bike.

 

And get the Fire and theft insurance, sport bikes have a tendancy to get stolen for joy rides.

And with the recent increase in number if brunt bikes incidents, I think that will be a good investment.

Bought my helmet and gloves from LAB before my prac 1.. GOod old times.. Lol But gotta get another pay of gloves i think. Thx for all the additional info. If anyone else has others would be glad to know it.

Yap! Get a spare helmet and gloves for your pillion.

 

It will also come in handy when you wash your helmet, or after your gear gets wet after a heavy rain.
