Hi, I noticed the cranking sound getting laggy, sluggish, slow, weak recently. But still able to start my bike properly. Anyone knows why?

How old is the battery? If it is more than a year old chances are the battery might be going.

Sometimes the battery connections at the battery posts might be loose or covered with oxide.

Check for security of the connections and if the battery posts are covered with oxide... just pour Coke or any gassy drink on it and it will clear up.

dang... i have the same problem too... and it is getting harder to start my bike... hmm... reading on voltmeter is like 10.xx +- zzzzzz

for yr case, if the reading is 10 plus wif the engine not running, time to change the batt (and charging system for juz in case)..

if the engine is running, but u still get 10 plus, time to check the charging of the bike..

Hmm after reading abit it seems to me that i encounter similiar issues.. My fireblade also have problems starting. Volt meter reading 11 when engine off after attempt to crank 1 time it failed and became 10v.

After push start while riding i notice the voltage goes up to 12.5. Same thing happens after i stop riding a while :S

Any advice on wat should i replace 1st? think my batt was done in jan though..

haha cheers

The RR on my Fireblade represents "Race Replica"

Hmmm latest info, dun think need to change batt... dunno what my friend do then now become normal again...

Possible reason is somewhere wet, then short circuit or something... i think it is a small matter, bring to your trusted bike shop to do. If u dun hav, i recommend planet.

as wat raptor post previously..

it can be due to loose connection of the batt..

sometimes Voltage reads 12.8V to 13.5v ..after one failed start Voltage down to 12 v..

this is known as surface charge....a lot of us get fooled by this reading..thinking our battery is fully charged..

this surafce charge phenomenon usually occurs immediately after the battery is charged....

rule of thumb says u need to rest battery 4 to 6 hrs without load to read good readings..faster way is aubject battery to load immedaiately like what we always to do,,start engine..and the dissapoinment ..

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time:dot:
