Hi All,

I understand that some rider thinks that lane splitting is dangerous. I agree, especially there are some who lane split at high speed. Yet I believe that lane splitting is the reason why some of us ride bike for our daily commute.

Recently, I was shouted at by a driver for lane splitting. I was apologetic at that time thinking that my bike had touched his car, stop and said sorry and ask where is the damage thinking that I had to pay for it or claim insurance. In the end, he just keep shouting about the danger and did not tell me where I damage his car (which I think I did not). I summarized that its just his bad day in the jam and he just don't like the way we are able to ride pass just like that.

Let's do a day call "Say No to Lane Split" where we will stick to a single lane, taking up the space of a car. Let's create a jam so serious that the drivers will finally understand the advantage and the benefits.

The purpose is to let all the road users know the advantage, in which they will be able to accommodate better to rider lane splitting by providing enough space for bike to move in between. They will also understand in order for bike to lane split safely, they need to signal and check blind-spot before changing lane.

We are being called a**h***, organ donor, rushing to die. But will the world be a better place if we stop lane splitting? Just a thought.

When I started riding, I rode the bike like driving a car, that is, I didn't lane split.

But after some time, I started to try lane splitting in a slow and clumsy way.

My skills got better each day, but I did encounter close calls, and hit a wing mirror of a car before (once incident only out of 14 years of daily riding), I couldn't stop to aplogize but I could see that it was not damaged. From that day onwards, I don't squeeze through if I am not 100% sure.

So my opinion. Lane split is dangerous as we never know if the cars in front will "play you out", so go slow and be very alert and careful. This is a skill that many riding should try his best to perfect it. It saves our time and frustration and ease traffic jam.

My experience in Singapore road is that most drivers in Singapore see bikes split lanes day in day out, so they are used to it and accepted it. Those against it are in the minority. I personally encountered drivers clear their ways for me to lane split safely, but I must say I also encountered when driver couldn't care less, continued to drive straight in their comfort of their cars even when their cars blocked the spaces for lane splitting.

I have beeter experience in Malaysia, they are more willing to clear their way for you to lane split.

How many riders will support a "No lane splitting day"? I, for sure, am so tempted to split lane, how not to do it?

People ask me, "Why ride bike?" I ask them back :"Why drive car?"

Yeah, & I wouldn't dare NOT to split in moderate to heavy traffic. There will be vehicles cutting in fm all over.. to ur front eating into ur safe distance, fm the sides trying to take up that half a lane of free space pushing u to the side... sudden abrupt stop by the vehicles in front... not being able to see the road conditions further up ahead etc etc....n I'm not just referring to cars.. even other bikes in fact especially other bikes will cut in.

Liverpool revival has started....

Me too!! They seems to embrace riders with love..

Passing tolls on special bike lane (free), petrol pump just for motorcycle without the need to pay at cashier and ample of parking space even at the malls..

I was never barred entry into a carpark while riding motorcycle.. But in Singapore, I had seen that "No Motorcycle" sign at countless of shopping mall parking :( :(..

Depand on the traffic for split lane. And there is no offence for motorcycle on split lane. Every road user have to accomte each other.
