Hi, apology if I divert abit. Need to consult you guys. There are too many thread for me to screen thru on my quiries.

Don't worry only two questions.

1) We use 2L of engine oil or 1L++?

2) My mileage only about 2800km. So far have had 2 oil change. My engine oil light keep flashing sometime. Is it normal? Feel that something is wrong.:help:

Posted

Oey.... all the alantic, mai kay siao, come in and explain leh.

My opinion, (I'm not riding atlantic but the brother btw.), oil should be 1L without filter change, with filter change shld be 1.2L.

Flashing light on the move can be indicator spoil or leak in ur crankcase or u need to lever up the oil. Did u check the dip stick?

if you just need to change the Engine Oil,then its only 1ltr,if you are changing the oil filter then you will need about 1.1ltr.if your oil lamp lights up probably means that you do not have enough oil so,pls go and have it check..and top up if necessary..

Hi BlueWarrior77,

welcome you to the forum. Actually you can do engine oil change every 5000 to 6000km, but always check your engine oil level every 2000km, because 4-stroke engine might take up engine oil

True,so far I didnt even bother to check the oil level, and my oil signal never light up,so I think most probably there is a leak somewhere ......the best is to go and have it check:cheeky:

I believe there's no leak at all, as 4-stroke engine takes up angine oil, just need to be re-filled.

When i first got my bike, i dun know that i have to check my engine oil, so i didn't. After 4000km, my engine left around 500ml engine oil and it ofcourse wear and tear the engine faster.

For all info, pls do check your engine oil often>

1. after change oil (0km)

2. check your engine at 2000km

3. from 2000km onwards, check every 1000km until you change engine again.

4. alway check engine oil when it is cold, not sometime check on cold, sometime check on hot, not accuate(wrong spelling).

Engine oil is the most important item on bike, do regular check or you will regret

Mineral oil is only for the initial running in,now only using the normal engine oil:cry: times are bad man....:giddy:

can you tell me is the mineral oil really better? cos I am still confused, too many variations from people....:giddy:

what is your normal engine oil? fully synth?

Actually I don't know much about engine oil other than the viscosity ratings. Have been using fully synthetic Castrol R4 from day one so no comments lah... engine still running. Read a debate somewhere on the base of the synthetic and what is synthetic.... too chim for me and not too interested... talk about the transmission parts and hellloooo.... :)

As far as I know fully synth last 2x more than the mineral so no need to change so often and its too leceh to change engine oil at the HDB carpark. Something that I'd want to avoid.
