hi, i would be renting a bike from my friend when i return to singapore. when my friend ask his insurance about whether i needed to add my name into the insurace, they replied by saying that it is not needed as it is a third party insurance and it is only for other people to claim against u. so is this true anot ?

next is there anyway i can get my self insured for like 2 weeks while i ride his bike???

thanks for any feed back

No. You are required to be covered with insurance when you ride any Singapore-registered motorcycle. Pls do get yourself covered. Your friend can add you as a sub-rider in his insurance.

Yap as per mention above.

Ask ur friend to add u in as subrider. cost ard $25 last time i did.

it wont be jus for 2 wks, it'll be for the duration of the insurance period of the bike.

ur friend can cancel ur name out anytime, but will cost $ again.

if u ride without insurance (ur name in the bike insurance) then u and friend will get charge by TP. lose license, lose bike + heavy fine. that is if u get caught. i would recommend u take the chance since u can legally ride it, so why not add in pay abit of $.

dun play play.

I third that. Unless of course you have to top-up the premium for the difference in age between you guys IF you are younger than your friend. In that case you might consider just taking public transport. Or get your friend to ferry you around :p

In Soviet Russia, motorcycle rides you!

it's a weird law but then again it does "protect" bike owners to a certain degree from theft and what not. get yourself added onto the insurance to be legal. just a few $10's to have total peace of mind :)

i did the same for my fren even though he hardly rides it but if he ever does and does get stopped by the cops for whatever reason or worst case scenario an accident. we're both covered and it's legal

Grounded... :/

Bike very troublesome.. Car is just anyone with a valid licence as long as the owner gives permission can already.
