Hi all. Need your opinions on this before I send to mech. Ever since I changed my spark plug, my bike's power drop termendously. It still can pick up and move and reach top speed, although the acceleration is slower and I will slow down a lot when climbing a slope at 90-100km/h at PIE. Worse when I tested my bike at Kent Ridge slopes. Used to be able to climb very fast and at gear 4. Now gear 3, the bike like suffering trying to climb. The only upside is that the bike vibrates less when I going at top speed.. quite smooth but acceleration very weak.

The bike has no problem starting, I still use the same 98 fuel and it's only 6 mnths old (1st hand some more). The plug I use is the same rating as my previous one. Do I have to adjust the plug's spark end (expend or close up the gap?), or is there a leak somewhere. Anyone got this problem before?

if u still have the old spark plug...try using that to compare..and confirm whether peformance has changed or not...

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time:dot:

Check...

1) spark plug cap contact and if it fits firmly to plug.

2) spark plug cable contact to IGNITION COIL.

3) whether spark plug was tightened properly to engine block.

If spark plug isn't foul when removed and checked then it isn't spark plug's fault or any of the above.

Haha.. thanks epk for reminding what my actual question is. Mepkoh and slowrider, aight, I'll go and check later over the weekend, thinking of doing that too, using my old spark plug to compare, but no time yet, always back home late after work. If spark problem, shld be no worries, if still same, have to send mech to check out liao.. I'm afraid I've blown some seal or something.

Btw, heard about sprocket change. I'm riding a scram, and I like the torque and climbing power, only now dissapointed/scared why suddenly cannot climb.

I've checked the issue. Noticed got a leak in my cylinder head. Got that repaired, change oil and everything but still the power has not gone back to the usual one. The mech said might be clutch wearing out. My mileage on my bike is only 20,000 km I think since I bought it first hand about 9 months ago. So fast wear out? I've read up in the net on signs of clutch wear but the info is little. Hope more experienced bros out there can let me know of the signs and the average price to change the clutch plates.

The symptoms that I have is:

1. bike accelerates slower than before with higher rpm.

2. Bike not able to climb on higher gears (will drop speed noticeably on hilly expressways)

3. Tendency to jump gear when moving from gear 1 to gear 2

4. Engine brake is noticeably weaker

5. All these is exerceberated when there's a pillion.

So, is my bike's plate really showing signs of wear?
