hey sbf brothers, i am inquiring on behalf of my friend.

his dad pass away few months ago, leaving him with a bike. He has already lay up his vehicle but have no transfer the ownership.

what's the appropriate steps to handle this?

and, when he receives his bike license, does he have to pay for insurance and road tax and the day he use his father's bike?

sorry for the trouble.

Hmm, did his dad leave a will ? Cause that bike belongs to the dad and all his sibling/wife has a share on that bike if not i don't think that bike can be transfer ownership unless their sibling/wife sign an agreement or something.

I managed to get insurance @ NTUC on a expired road tax bike.... you have to pay the late fees at LTA and your road tax renewal will start from the period when it last expired.

Think there was a similar case long time ago, with a female rider. Dont think she did joined the SBF female Riders group.

Ok. The bike was in the father's name, laid up and the father is deceased.

Your friend has not got his licence, thus need to continue the lay up after the transfer.

For transfer, you need the permission of the executor of the father's estate to go down to LTA, show proof of who is the executor and do the transfer at LTA.

Then when your friend got his licence. He only need to tow the bike for inspection, get insurance and roadtax and he can ride that bike which is transferred to his name.

his dad did not leave any will, so who is the executor of the father's estate?

Since there is no will and executor, someone has to go to court and get appointed as the administrator of the estate. This is a much longer process which will take months.

He who hesitates is lost!
