Hi Guys, got a few question regarding the Majesty 400

but I really do not have the luxury of time to read the entire thread for info.

My silverwing is going for scrape (likely) and I chance upon an uncle selling his 2004 majesty400.

- have you ever change water pump, magnetic coil, rectifier and belt. How much do they cost?

- if u have a voltmeter on ur yp400, what are the idling voltage and running voltage?

- is there any component that is prone to breakdown for the majesty? (eg silverwing magnetic coil is famous for kaput)

- any other thing i should note while checking the scoot?

Apreciate your input. Thkxs! :)

Hi Nighthawk, for me I haven't change any of the items but if I didn't remember wrongly, the magnetic coil cost like $200 to $300.

The rectifier is also around $200 and the belt is about $180.

If you like to have a better idea of the prices of the items, you might like to drop by Auto Machinery at Rowell road and ask them directly.

For my voltmeter, my idling voltage is about 12.2 and once the bike is running, it hits 13.8.

The steering cone is known to be prone for breakdown but then again mine is still serving me well.

Btw, I used to ride Silverwing for about 5 year plus. My magnetic coil never did once broke down on me. I heard it happen to

people who used Maxima EO that have the problem frequently. I only use Motul 300V on my SW.

You may not enjoy the Majesty as you would the SW as it is a parallel twin engine. It would be advisable to renew the COE for the SW.

I regretted selling away my SW after 5 years and moving to a brand new Kymco Downtown 300.

A couple of us have already make numerous tweaks to the bike and we are enjoying our Majesty now.

So its really up to you which way you decide to go. If you are moving from a 200cc or 300cc bike, I would recommend you to go ahead

but because you are riding a SW, you may not enjoy it as a single piston bike is not as smooth as a parallel twin.

IMHO!

Thank you for the detailed info and feedback Bro, very useful to me when testing out the bike.

My xperience with the silverwing has been bitter sweet and very painful financially and spiritually haha.

I now knew the silverwing a lot better due the no. of breakdown it had and the component Ived changed.

Stripped the various component until I lost count. And I think I knew its secret weakness too...:p

Use it mainly to ride long distance.

I read this thread and some bro did 140-160km ...smoothness aside, have you done it? Whats the vibration

like and heat over say 1-2hr hold at that speed?

Last night did some homework by going straight to youtube video and read the feedback from users as well

and the chance to see the internal components like variators belts and special toos etc..

Will go ahead to try it out next week :)

Sorry to hear that you had quite bad experience with the SW. :p

Initially, I was having bad vibration issues even after using a heavy balancer.(Heavier than Motovation)

Recently, at AC motor, after adding oil into my front suspension and changing to the Michelin Power Pure tyres, I tried hitting 150km/h and was very surprise

that there was minimum vibration.

Not sure about the heat but we ever went for one to two hours rides before though not at that speed.

Hopefully our other bro Bogeh can answer you as he recently went up to Malacca at that speed and almost immediately came back again!

Don't really feel lots at slower speed, but at the higher speed, after 100km/h, can feel the difference.

Maybe it is because of my LV exhaust so at lower speed, the difference is not a lot plus I'm using 16g while you are using 15g.

Anyway, can't really complain as before this I was already very happy with the current state of my bike.

I'll give it a few more days and see how it goes!

Hi Nighthawk, sorry for late response.

I wouldn't be as good as synman and norz here pertaining to parts/reliability but i can share with the short tour (real life performance).

Yeah I recently tried riding up malacca impromptu, 8hrs plus of riding and 600+km (including circling around sg west, then south and up north).

No major repair or any preparation, Penzoil engine oil recommended by Norz changed months ago. I just recently changed with Synman's tyre (better grip), my brakes and gantong are lousy and steering cone starting to give way... i just went off like... i always go to work everyday.

Speed range was variating between 110-140kph for going up, took me 4 hrs due to a stupid missed left turn. U-turning in NSE took me close to 30mins...

Back i worked with 130-150kph (my bike has difficulty going higher due to non-servicing) and used 2hr 45min back to SG. In SG I... hehehe maintain 60-90kph (b**lsh*t) for next 2 hrs.

Handling-wise, if the road is smooth... it IS smooth. If bumpy, handle do shake, i'm using normal RGV balancer.

Morning ride, weather cool, engine running is smoooth as butter. Especially if its smooth gradual increase, immediate pick-up and maintain at high speed does has diff against gradual increase (taking 150kph as my max).

Afternoon sun... temperature rises... engine does... cough a fair bit (if you know what i mean)

I'm a believer when it comes to weather/ambience temperature condition affects engine performance.

Vibrations i guess depends on individual's bike's maintenance. Mine has parts rickety around like old man (mine is 10yr old). Whole bike Vibrates a little when accelerating from 100-120kph. 120-140kph isssss smoooooth. Up to 150.... vibrates more, but still ok can 1 hand ride.

Heat-wise... directly below seat where we place our legs in stop-position... the fan blows out hot-air can be very discomforting, shouldn't be a prob for taller chaps whom legs are more to the front. I'm standing at 1.69m. Take note that this heat... is NOT due to the long distance, even normal half-hour jam in SG also will get.

Other than that, the bike's body does not emit heat badly from engine (it does, but negligable) even after i ride that long and far.

I hope the info helps. This bike is good. You should see how the other bros had done to their bike.

Mine is/should be considered the worst among the pack.

PS. Shell V-power Racing does helps alot. other petrol sucks big time, can feel its significant difference.
