Anyone tried converting a foreign license to a Singapore license?

I'm refering to motorcycle license. From foreign license to CL 2B/2A/2? From website, it seems only can convert to CL2B.

Possible to convert to CL2? I already emailed the proper authorities but have received no response. Thus, I like to hear from those with actual experience.

Thank you very much.

Nowadays the TP is a lot more open about how foreign motorcycle licences can be converted beyond 2B.

Quote from TP:

"Conversion for a higher capacity or open category motorcycle licence is normally not granted unless there are documentary proof of training, testing, ownership of bigger motorcycle and insurance policy indicating that you have gone through proper training and testing regime and have had at least one year riding experience on the road."

The trick is to get the supporting paperwork in order, and it helps if you're beyond the young and dangerous age range. Licences from certain countries (e.g. developed countries) are more easily converted than others.

question: Im from the philippines and wanted to rent a bike for my week long stay in SG. Do authorities allow tourist with Drivers license drive around ? if yes, what are the requirements? - thank you in advance

Posted

Problem 1. Renting of bikes is next to impossible in Singapore.

Problem 2. Yes, they will allow foreign licence holder to rent a car and drive around in Singapore. Requirements is that you hold a valid driving licence from your home country. Preferably with a International Driving Permit, and renting a car from the normal tourist companies that rent cars. They have counters at the airport, where you can pay a deposit, buy driving insurance, acquire a cash card/teaches you on the requirements before showing you the car and you drive away.

the real reason is this.

more and more ang moh FT come to singapore want to ride harley becos they rich

but cannot buy becos no licence.

then harley lobby the government to let more ang moh FT get class 2 so that they can sell more bikes

Always ride safely and defensively.

Repair bike cheap and fast,

Repair body expensive and slow.

So means only "ang moh FT" can get straight CL2 and the rest suck thumb?

Real real or perceived real or anyhow real? Sorry ah, real really don't know so have to clarify.

Many countries, not just Singapore, have a list of licences that are more readily recognised for direct conversion into the local licence. Try converting your Singapore licence to others and see for yourself how it's easier to convert in many places than licences from less developed countries.
